Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in May 2002 with its head office in Rautahat District of Nepal. Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madheshi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS patients, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madhesi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

Throughout its journey, it has been recognized by the Government of Nepal, Donor Communities, UN Agencies, many International Relief and Development Agencies for its achievements in transforming the society, for its good governance, inclusive operating structure, result-oriented development interventions and humanitarian assistance, which RDC considers its greatest strength to take the lead in the sector across the country.

Purpose of Volunteering:

RDC Nepal is Madhesh’s leading national development organization that works through volunteering to create a fair world for everyone. 

The purpose of this position:

  • Support PIF activities planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, etc.
  • Work towards promoting meaningful and strong coordination, collaboration, and knowledge management at RDC Nepal’s practices area through digital transformation and volunteering.
  • Assist in developing and communicating a clear strategy and driving culture and organizational change necessary for the successfully adopting knowledge management practices and digital tools.
  • Enhance knowledge sharing, collaboration, and communication within the organization.
  • Ensure that digital tools and platforms used for knowledge management adhere to security and compliance standards to protect sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and refine strategies for knowledge management and digital transformation.
  • Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of knowledge management and digital transformation efforts and report progress to leadership.

Job Description 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Overseeing strategic initiatives that optimize the organization's knowledge assets and leverage technology to drive organizational change.
  • Support and facilitate to develop and communicate a clear strategy for knowledge management and digital transformation that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Support and contribute in collaboration among teams and departments by implementing platforms and processes that encourage cross-functional communication. 
  • Support to define key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of knowledge management and digital transformation efforts and report progress to leadership.
  • Oversee the online system including Aspire, inspire application to enhance the good governance.
  • Support to held periodic or annual performance appraisal upload in system.
  • Handle the reception, and communication with inter organization team, external stakeholders, donor community, and another vendor, contractors as well.
  • Support in document archiving, profiling, recruitment process, data storage, information sharing to fund raising team as well. 

Reporting  

  • Support team to Prepare quarterly report Documentation and collect case story.  
  • Act proactively for providing timely and regular reports to donors as part of the requirements of the project management and compliance to donor requirements. 
  • Support in documentation and learning products (case study, success stories etc.)

Skills, Knowledge and Experience   

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology or a Bachelor in Social Work and advance technology, volunteering coaching, mentoring, and training facilitation as well.   
  • Experience of working with marginalized and vulnerable children including children with disabilities. 
  • Willingness to share his/her skills with colleagues in a professional but sensitive manner.  
  • Experience in using the technology. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Able to frequently travel. 
  • Able to accommodate in a diverse socio-economic, and multicultural context.  
  • Fluent in English, and Nepali and motivated to learn. 
  • Have enthusiasm and adequate knowledge and experience to work in a team. 
  • Good interpersonal skills combined with a flexible and adaptable attitude. 
  • Excellent communication skills with good command of both spoken and written.

Allowance and Accommodation to volunteers at RDC Nepal

As an RDC Nepal volunteer, you will involve in meeting, training, field monitoring, donor’s meeting on a full-time basis. RDC Nepal will cover your travel, accommodation, and a local living allowance, which will be paid as per actual basis. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses. RDC Nepal works with some of the poorest communities, meaning accommodation varies and will be basic.
