1. Introduction

With a core team and an extensive network of collaborators, Skathi is shaping the future of Nepal’s music industry through strategic artist development, sustainable policies and models, and a commitment to global recognition.
2. Background
In response to the challenges, identified knowledge gaps, infrastructure roadblocks, and absence of holistic support systems, Skathi Entertainment has taken a significant step further by partnering with the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal to implement a 4-year Arts & Culture Programme. With a competent project team in place and operational readiness, the project dives deep into research, industry professional trainings, artist development workshops, and collaborations to create a new blueprint for the Music & Entertainment industry. This is the first workshop under the Performance Workshop Series
3. Workshop Description
Title - Performance Workshop: Stage Performance for Beginners
Date - 31st May, 2025
This one-day workshop is designed to elevate the live performance capabilities of aspiring and emerging Hip-Hop artists, with a special focus on stage presence, delivery, confidence, and audience engagement. Through a dynamic mix of movement exercises, vocal projection drills, and expressive performance techniques, participants will learn how to command the stage and bring their lyrics to life. The workshop will explore body language, breath control, mic handling, timing, and crowd interaction, crucial elements in a powerful rap performance. Participants will also engage in peer feedback sessions and simulated live sets to refine their presence and impact. Whether preparing for a live show, cypher, or recording session, this workshop fosters confidence, authenticity, and performance precision in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
4. Scope of Work
The facilitator is required to design and facilitate a performance-intensive workshop that builds the live expression skills of Hip-Hop artists. The program should incorporate technical exercises, group interactions, and hands-on stage training to support participants in becoming compelling live performers. The consultant will be responsible for delivering the workshop in an impactful and inclusive manner, ensuring active participation, creative exploration, and skill-building among participants. The session should be structured to inspire self-expression, boost confidence, and foster a collaborative learning environment.
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Design Workshop Curriculum: Develop a session plan focusing on vocal techniques, breath control, movement, stage positioning, mic use, and audience engagement strategies.
- Facilitate Performance Training: Lead activities such as posture and movement drills, live set run-throughs, call-and-response exercises, and confidence-building games.
- Deliver Vocal and Expressive Coaching: Teach vocal projection, emotional delivery, and flow retention under pressure to help participants connect their written lyrics to expressive output.
- Provide Learning Resources: Prepare support materials such as warm-up guides, performance checklists, and visual examples of effective rap performances.
- Monitor and Support Participant Progress: Provide constructive feedback and tailored coaching to help each participant strengthen their stage presence and delivery.
- Submit Workshop Feedback and Report: Provide a summary of the workshop activities along with general feedback on participant engagement and outcomes.
The individual consultant is expected to deliver the following outcomes:
- Enhanced Performance Confidence: Participants will develop greater comfort performing in front of others through consistent practice and feedback.
- Strengthened Stagecraft Skills: Artists will learn how to use body language, movement, eye contact, and space to enhance their message and engage the audience.
- Improved Vocal Delivery: Through breathing and projection exercises, participants will build stamina, clarity, and expressiveness in their vocal delivery.
- Live Set Readiness: Participants will be able to prepare and execute short live sets that incorporate stage transitions, audience interaction, and effective pacing.
- Peer Collaboration and Feedback Culture: Artists will build a sense of community through shared performance challenges, support, and collaborative critique.
- Alignment with Project Objectives: Participants’ progress and workshop outcomes will reflect the key deliverables and expectations outlined by Skathi Entertainment’s management team.
5. Qualifications and Skills required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in live Hip-Hop performance and/or rap
- Proven ability to coach artists on stage presence and vocal delivery
- Knowledge of Hip-Hop culture and performance aesthetics
- Inclusive and engaging facilitation approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, such as confidence building, ability to deliver experiential learning, intuitive approach in guiding artists in tapping into their strengths, experience in building immersive live sets
- Basic knowledge of live sound technicalities
- Adaptability to varied participant experience levels and styles
