The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal), a national level NGO, dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity and launches a call for applications in its project, called 'Manko Sathi- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Promotion', implemented in Siraha and Dhaunsa from June 2025, funded and supported by CBM Global. This project aims to improve psychosocial wellbeing of children and adolescents, including those with disabilities and out of schools. It therefore seeks candidates for the following positions:
1. Project Coordinator- 1 full-time position, based in Provincial Office, Janakpurdham with field visits to project locations)
Position Overview:
The project coordinator is responsible to design, plan, implement, monitor and reporting of the project activities and extend coordination and collaboration with local government, provincial government, Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), NFDN, CBM Global and other concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of the project. Project Coordinator is expected to provide technical and project management support to the project team members in implementation of project activities at field level.
Duties and responsibilities of the position:
- Collaborate with the project team and assigned line manager to develop plans aligned with the project document, ensuring activities are implemented on time and within set objectives.
- Lead the overall implementation of the project ensuring effectiveness and quality delivery of the project interventions
- Provide training and supervision to the health service providers and teachers as needed
- Mobilize and manage project staff efficiently, ensuring a cohesive and motivated project team
- Support to the team members to address the challenges related to the project implementation that included but not limited to planning, implementation, data/information recording and reporting in close coordination with the program manager
- Ensure that procedures and supporting documents are properly reviewed and approved, budget utilization is regularly tracked and budget is effectively utilized
- Extend coordination and collaboration with local government, provincial government,
- Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), NFDN, CBM Global and other concerned stakeholders for the effective implementation of the project
- Review evidence-based practices on CAMH through literature review, design to document/ collect data of project intervention in research framework so that project intervention implementation will create evidences for research publication with close supervision of technical director.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Psychology or Counselling Psychology or Organizational Behavior or Social Work or any relevant field from recognized university with least 5 years project management experience in community based mental health and psychosocial support program.
- Having strong competence in project management, leadership, evaluation/ implementation research networking and coordination
- Practical and strong background in supervising project team members in mental health and psychosocial perspective will be advantage for the post.
- Having good comprehension and learning attitude in mental health, preferably in child andadolescent mental health, psychosocial interventions and disability inclusion
- Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs/OPDs) for the effectiveness of implementation of the project activities and its upscaling and sustainability
- Good report writing, documentation and communication skills in both English and Nepali language
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization
- Willing to be based in Janakpurdham, Madesh Province and travel in the project areas
2. Job title: Psychosocial Counsellor
Number of positions: 3 (Three)
Location: Ganeshmancharnath Municipality, Nagarain Municipality and Laxminiya Rural Municipality of Dhanusa district (Applicants are requested to mention your preferred local level to work)
Position Overview:
The Psychosocial Counselor (PSC) will play a pivotal role in creating awareness in child and adolescent mental health, capacity building for the community workers, groups, networks and teachers, assessing vulnerable children and adolescent, providing appropriate intervention, including psychosocial counselling service in group and individual, family, form and mobilize peer support groups, strengthen disability inclusion and coordinate and collaborate at local level in mainstreaming child mental health into the existing health and education system. The PSCs work closely with project officer, and effectively implement project activities at local level.
Roles/ Responsibilities:
- Create awareness and sensitize on the need of child mental health promotion and child mental health care and service at family, community and service providers level.
- Provide training and supervision for the community workers, groups, networks, teachers and health workers in child mental promotion, assessing vulnerable children and referrals.
- Provide appropriate intervention, along with the individual and group session to the vulnerable children, including children with disability and out of school
- Provide parental education and group sessions to the parents of vulnerable children
- Form peer support groups, empower and mobilize for CAMH promotion and provide emotional support to the vulnerable children
- Strengthen coordination at local level for mainstreaming child mental health hand disability inclusion and cost sharing for wider implementation of the activities at local level
- Collect, compile, and prepare a detailed qualitative/ quantitative progress report of the activities implemented at local level
- Receive regular supervision from CMC-N psychologist/ psychiatrist team to ensure having unform and standard practice of CAMH intervention with child and adolescents
- Any other tasks asked by the supervisor as per need.
Qualification and experience requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in any one of the domains such as Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or Nursing, and be trained on a 6-month psychosocial counselling course under the NHTC or any other recognized professional organization. Candidate having NHTC 6 months training will be given a priority. CMC-N believes in quality of the training, we will not accept the PSC training through online modality only.
- At least two years of experience having worked as a psychosocial counsellor, preferably with children and adolescents, including children with disability.
- Must be highly motivated to work in multi-cultural/ contextual, and challenging situations, and is expected to have strong leadership and coordination/ communication skills.
- Must have basic computer skills—MS Word, Excel, PPT, familiar with e-mail correspondence.
- The candidate should be knowledgeable in writing a report in English and Nepali languages, and is expected to have a learning attitude, and also that two wheelers will be in the priority.
- Preference will be given candidate from Madhesh province with acceptable quality and experience in required area.
