Terms of Reference (ToR) for 2-Day Leadership Coaching for Mid-Level Officers

1. Background

Heifer International Nepal (Heifer) is dedicated to ending hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. Since its establishment in 1998, Heifer has transformed the lives of over 400,000 families through agriculture and livestock programs. By fostering Self-Help Groups and Social Entrepreneur Women’s Cooperatives, Heifer helps build resilient communities and promote sustainable livelihoods.

Heifer aims to strengthen leadership capacity of its mid-level officers who play a critical role in managing teams, implementing programs, and coordinating with partners across diverse contexts.

Heifer seeks to engage a qualified consultant to design and facilitate a two-day intensive leadership coaching workshop, tailored to the organizational priorities and the Nepal context.

The consultant will deliver two separate workshop events:

  • Janakpur: 24–25 April 2026
  • Butwal: 27–28 April 2026

2. Objective

The objective of this assignment is to strengthen key leadership competencies of mid-level officers through a focused, practical, and interactive coaching workshop.

3. Specific Objectives

  • Improve self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Strengthen team leadership and staff motivation skills
  • Enhance communication and feedback skills
  • Build conflict management and problem-solving capacity
  • Promote accountability and results-oriented leadership

4. Scope of Work

The consultant will:

  • Prepare a customized 2-day leadership coaching agenda and materials based on organizational needs
  • Facilitate interactive training sessions using practical exercises and Nepal-relevant case examples
  • Support participants in developing individual leadership action plans
  • Submit a brief report with key observations and recommendations

5. Methodology

The training should use adult learning principles, including:

  • Experiential learning
  • Group discussions and reflection
  • Role plays and case studies
  • Coaching-based facilitation approach

6. Deliverables

  • Training design and agenda
  • Training materials (presentations, tools, exercises)
  • Facilitation of 2-day workshop
  • Participant action plans
  • Brief final report

7. Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in leadership, management, or related field
  • At least 5–7 years of experience in leadership training/coaching
  • Experience working with INGOs/development sector
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Understanding of Nepal context preferred

8. Reporting

The consultant will report to the HR/People Department of Heifer International Nepal.

All information shared during the assignment shall remain confidential.

10. Application Process

  • VAT Certificate
  • Tax Clearance Certificate FY 081-82
