Good Neighbors Nepal(GNN) is a national NGO working in Nepal since 2002 with the objective of improving the lives of people, especially community through education, livelihood activities, health services, WASH, advocacy, network building, Open Defecation Free Campaign and disaster risk reduction. GNN has so far covered 14 districts of the country through its 20 Community Development Projects (CDPs) and The improvement Agriculture Products for Poor Households in Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha District Out of those 20 CDPs, two have completed more than ten years, five have completed five years each, and the others are ongoing for less than five years each.

Consultancy Service: Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion-GEDSI Analysis

Good Neighbors Nepal (GNN), or Ashal Chhimeki Nepal (ACN), is a non-governmental organization established in 2002 in Kathmandu, Nepal, focused on sustainable community development. GNN's interventions include Livelihood, Health, Gender Equality, Social Inclusion, Sanitation, Education, Emergency Response, and Advocacy. With 25% of the population living on less than 100 Rupees ($1) a day, GNN aims to support marginalized communities, particularly during natural disasters like the 2015 earthquake.

GNN designs its projects based on community needs, offering technical and managerial support in collaboration with the Nepali government. 

Vision: To create well-developed communities through Child Protection, Education, Livelihood Improvement, Health, and WASH. 

Mission: To transform communities via an effective child-protected development process. 

Goal: To improve resilient livelihood, nutrition, WASH, and emergency response. 

Objectives: To provide formal/non-formal education and vocational training while conducting advocacy, medical camps, and WASH awareness programs. 

GNN implements the HATEMALO project for child well-being, funded by World Vision International Nepal (WVI Nepal), in Kirtipur Municipality and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 16. Since 2001, WVI Nepal has aimed to enhance the well-being of vulnerable children, partnering with GNN to promote child-focused initiatives that incorporate Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). GNN has also been engaged in the IPF-SHIELD program since 2026 in these areas.

GEDSI principles were fully integrated into the technical programme and core project models evaluation, root cause analysis and theory of change for new country strategy and planning different frameworks, ensuring that quality and inclusion. As outlined by the country strategy 2026-2030, the TOR is developed to analyses Area programme (AP) context of Gender Equality Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) linking to children, girls' women, men, and person with disability, social interactions, their issues, opportunity, power-dynamics and socio-political situations.  

This assessment is expected to:

  • To identify the social composition of the proposed areas in terms of gender, ethnicity, culture, class, caste, age, and disability status 
  • To assess social intersectionality and its implications for social development 
  • To explore the inclusion status of the most vulnerable and excluded women, men, girls, boys, and children and persons with disabilities 
  • To understand gender roles and responsibilities at family, community, and system levels 
  • To identify access to and control over resources and benefits among different social groups 
  • To identify gender-specific and disability-inclusive needs, priorities, and responsibilities 
  • To capture perspectives and experiences of women, men, girls, boys, children and person with disabilities and marginalized groups 
  • To promote women’s and girls’ participation in community, political, and economic life 
  • To generate evidence-based recommendations for programme design 
  • To link findings with WV’s five GEDSI Domains of Change
  • To analyze the access, participation, decision-making, system and wellbeing of women, girls, children and people with disabilities and the marginalized groups

Qualification and Competencies of Consultant:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Gender Studies, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience. (M.Phil. Would be preferred) as well as 4 years of experience in carrying out analysis, research, and studies preferred in development sectors in related fields. 
  • Have strong experience of conducting similar research, analysis, review, evaluation
  • Have strong experience of writing high-quality assessments, analysis and evaluation reports
  • Have strong exposure to the grass-root realities, harmful social norms, power dynamics and other GEDSI related issues.
  • Adequate experience to analyze qualitative data and demonstrate performance in research data management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Skills in literature review and qualitative analysis; demonstrated experience on analysis from a wide range of information.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GEDSI nature of development projects
  • Understanding about different types of community issues, problems and consequences in context of Nepal
  • Ability to work in team 
  • Demonstrated experience of facilitating different consultative meetings; Ability to facilitate discussion to reach conclusion
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and using participatory (PRA) tools
  • Good communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills 
  • Has strong experience of conducting similar studies applying Gender Equality< Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and disability consideration understanding language and context sensitivity
  • Knowledge of using Washington Group Question (WGQ.
