Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO) Nepal is one of Nepal’s leading psychosocial organizations. It was established in 2005 to promote psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in conflict-affected and other vulnerable communities through the development of sustainable, culturally-appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems.

Project information:

TPO Nepal is implementing activities under the “Strengthen systems for prevention and promotion of child and adolescent mental health” Flood Response project. The project aims to delivery safe, inclusive, ethical and quality mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to children, adolescents, caregivers, families and other affected and vulnerable populations in communities affected by Bhotekoshi-Rasuwa Flash flood.

For this purpose, TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidates for the following position:

Major responsibilities

The Psychiatric Nurses/Psychologist will provide Mental health psychosocial support services (MHPSS), case follow-up, and referral of complex/high-risk cases, with appropriate linkage to health and protection services in flood-affected districts of Bagmati Province, Nepal, supporting recovery and continuity of mental health services. They will be responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:

• Provide MHPS services to affected community members focused to children, adolescents, caregivers and through Community Mental Health Unit (CMHU) and outreach services.
• Conduct mental health screening, psychosocial assessment, counselling, follow-up, and identify and refer complex or high-risk cases to appropriate services.
• Support child and adolescent friendly MHPSS, awareness, prevention and help-seeking activities in communities, schools, shelters and other outreach settings.
• Maintain confidential case records, service data, referrals and follow-up information.
• Participate in CMHU team meetings, case discussions, supervision and capacity building activities.
• Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality, informed consent and child-friendly approaches in all service delivery.
• Perform other relevant duties assigned by the organization.

 Qualification, Skills and Experience:

• At least a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from a recognized institution; or A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, along with relevant psychosocial counselling training or PGD with counselling psychology or Master degree in clinical/counselling psychology
• Valid registration with the Nepal Nursing Council.
• Good communication, interpersonal, counseling, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and in field-based settings.
• Willingness to travel and work in emergency or community-based settings, as required.
• Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, safeguarding, and respectful service delivery.
