PHASE Nepal’s health, education, livelihoods and research projects are currently running across various rural communities in Nepal. With support from Himalayan Development Foundation (HDFA) Australia, PHASE Nepal is implementing education project in select government schools in Phaktanglung with the aim of improving quality of education in close collaboration with the Phaktanglung Rural Municipality.
We are seeking a motivated, dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of the Education Improvement Pilot Project (PEIP), in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality in Taplejung district.

DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the implementation of the Education Improvement Pilot Project (PEIP) project in two government schools of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality in Taplejung district.
- Develop detailed work plans and oversee day-to-day project operations to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Coordinate closely with the Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, school management committees, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders for planning and implementation of project activities.
- Facilitate formulation/update of the School Improvement Plans with active participation all stakeholders.
- Participate in the School Management Committee meetings, assess the needs and organize leadership quality for improved activities.
- Organize appropriate awareness activities for parents to enhance their support to improved education.
- Activate student clubs and organize capacity building activities including extracurricular activities.
- Carry out needs assessment and plan appropriate capacity building activities for the student centric teaching and learning for teachers in the select schools.
- Organize and facilitate appropriate trainings for the teachers for improving quality teaching and learning and carryout follow up to ensure implementation of the skills learned.
- Carryout assessment of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers and organize appropriate training for ECD teachers.
- Provide essential learning materials to ECD centers in the municipality based on their needs.
- Maintain records of all activities in an agreed format and provide regular updates to PHASE Nepal, the local government and the donors as per need.
- Prepare and submit narrative and financial reports in line with PHASE Nepal and HDFA’s requirements.
- Facilitate field visits for project partners and ensure visibility of the partnership in all project activities.
- Supervise and support the education team on the ground and ensure proper planning of capacity building and follow up activities.
- Identify challenges and risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Support program manager in timely reporting with proper documentation of success/case stories, progress updates, and lessons learned for donor and other report.
- Conduct baseline and endline surveys using standard tools to assess project progress and outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Master’s degree in Education, with minimum of 3 years professional work experience in management of education project, preferably in rural or remote settings in Nepal.
- Proven skills in stakeholder engagement mainly the municipalities, teachers training, mobilization of school management committees, coordination, and project monitoring.
- Strong leadership, communication, and report writing skills in both English and Nepali.
- Ability to travel to and work in remote areas, including extended stays in project locations.
- Experience in digital learning and use of appropriate online materials/platforms for school level education.
- Proficient in IT skills, including the use of MS Office applications, digital communication tools, data management systems, and online collaboration platforms.
Other benefits
PHASE Nepal will provide accidental insurance of NRs. 2,000,000/- for employee and medical insurance of NRs. 225,000/- that covers the employee and his/her up to 2 dependent family members.
