S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal/SWN) is a wholly Nepali-owned multidisciplinary research and infrastructure development consulting service provider. Since 2000, SWN has been working with multiple development partners and the Government of Nepal, delivering quality outputs in the design and management of locally and government-led projects and programs. The projects are focused on local organization capacity development strengthening local government capabilities, green resilient infrastructure development, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the projects and programmes.

Position:  Programme Manager

Remuneration: Attractive package reflecting competencies and experience.

Working Days: 5 days a week (Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

Contract: Long-term (2 months’ probation period)

Reporting to: CEO and Professional Lead

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of having the Programme Manager is to enable a productive, harmonious, and smooth engagement of the staff and consultant team members engaged by SWN in its multiple multi-sectoral projects through a regular, professional, and cordial managerial engagement with the team members. In doing so, the Programme Manager will provide guidance and play an advisory planning and supportive role to each project manager in achieving high-quality assignment deliverables and timely outputs.   

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Managers and SWN staff in systematic planning, organization of works, and approaches to delivering quality outputs.

  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor the development growth and implementation of project and proposal

  • Responsible for the overall quality and timely delivery of all project activities and deliverables

  • Identify and manage programmatic risk, estimate and manage human resources vis a vis available program financial resource

  • Provide tailored mentorship and guidance to the project manager on project management to ensure the project manager can effectively and efficiently lead the project

  • Responsible for strategic dialogue with clients to satisfy their desire for clear and accurate communication

  • Provide strategic direction to the Senior Management Team at SWN in project-specific experiences derived from its implementation to feed to improvement process/loop.

  • Support Project Managers in finalizing the work schedule of the project, coordinating with clients, report preparation, preparing ToR of the team members, and communication channels 

  • Implement necessary collaborative project management tool(s) and processes to enable easy collaboration and communication between project team members

  • Organize the sharing session between the project team for inter-project learning

  • Lead and contribute to institutional project documentation and knowledge management process

  • Ensure that projects deliver stipulated marketing materials in a timely manner and communicate also through social media channels

Education and Professional Experiences
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, economics, political science, international development specialization, or another related field from an accredited institution. An Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) or any project management course will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the management of projects in different development research areas and the infrastructure development sector
Core Competencies and Technical Expertise
  • Excellent ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize and implement multiple tasks within strict deadlines, and produce high-quality deliverables

  • Proven ability to plan tasks, monitor, supervise, and evaluate the performance of team members against set targets and timelines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages

  • Strong at using WordPress, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  • Demonstrates high levels of moral integrity, enthusiasm, and commitment to the growth of the organization

  • Proactive and detail-oriented individual with a dedication to identifying solutions to problems

  • Strong training, capacity building, and facilitation expertise

  • Ability and willingness for field travel

  • Positive attitude and a good sense of humor
Other Considerations:
  • Good understanding of the Nepali and international development sector
  • Available for an interview, week commencing 1st June 2024
