Rural Women Upliftment Association (RWUA) was established on 22 Kartik, 2050 B.S. at Sarlahi District of Madesh Province, Nepal. It is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization that is well-established and prominent and works as a change agent in the area of women’s empowerment and community development in the Sarlahi district. The long-term experiences in the area of community development and women’s Upliftment have made it the organization easy to organize the community for positive changes over their own for the last 32 years. This is a women-headed organization and the majority of executive members are women. It works with a mission to improve the lives of people through economic, social, cultural, and physical transformation. It has been implementing several projects in Sarlahi District in partnership.

Job Description
Title of the Post: Junior Technician Assistant (JTA)

Field Coverage: Sponsorship Program working municipalities/wards of Sarlahi district
Child Safeguarding Statement:
The position holder will have frequent contact with children and/or young people. S/he must comply with the RWUA’s Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEAH Policy, and Code of Conduct, maintaining the “dual adult” rule during any child engagement.
Job Summary
The Junior Technician Assistant (JTA) is responsible for supporting on-farm production, livelihood initiatives, and Income Generation (IG) Groups in target areas under the Sponsorship Program. S/he will facilitate community mobilization, technical support, and market linkages to improve household income, reduce child poverty, and strengthen community resilience.
The JTA acts as a key bridge between the Sponsorship Program, RWUA, and the community, ensuring effective implementation of On-farm with Climate Smart Agriculture, off-farm (ME & VT) and lobbying/Advocacy with local government for leverages, joint initiatives for the target beneficiaries and for climate-adaptive interventions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Livelihood & On-Farm Support
- Provide regular technical supports (minimum twice a month each farmers’ group) and instant backstopping to On-Farm and IG Groups for day-to-day initiatives.
- Introduce and demonstrate at least 2 improved technologies/practices per quarter to increase productivity.
- Facilitate at least 3 market linkage initiatives annually to ensure fair pricing of farmers’ produce.
- Support group members in preparing and implementing business plans for selected enterprises.
2. Community Mobilization & Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct at least 4 community meetings/interactions per quarter on child poverty, livelihood, and resilience.
- Establish/strengthen collaboration with Ward, Municipality, Agriculture Offices, and cooperatives by organizing quarterly joint monitoring visits.
- Build effective relationships with youth networks, CSOs, and climate coalitions for integrated impact.
- Systematic mobilization of LRP towards technical efficiency and broader productivity in on-farm.
3. Field Supervision, Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit monthly, semi-annual, and annual progress reports on time.
- Collect and document field data using standardized tools (Kobo, pre/post-tests, feedback forms).
- Produce and submit two detailed case/success stories every month highlighting program outcomes.
4. Program Quality & Accountability
- Ensure all distributed inputs, materials, and services are used efficiently with 100% accountability.
- Coordinate with respective unit of Municipality and ‘Krishi Gyan Kendra’ for resource leverages i.e. knowledge, technical expertise, budget and capacity strengthening of farmers and LRP.
- Maintain compliance with Quality Benchmarks (QBMs) in all field activities.
- Promote value chain development for local community products to ensure sustainability.
5. Child Safeguarding & Well-being
- Adhere to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding & Protection Policies at all times.
- Immediately report child protection concerns to the Field Officer as per protocol.
- Ensure that the Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct are displayed and promoted at all activity locations.
- Demonstrate “Do No Harm” principles in all interventions.
Qualifications & Skills
- An intermediate degree in Agriculture (or equivalent in Agriculture/Animal Science) or B.Sc. Agriculture preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in livelihood, DRR, and community development.
- Strong skills in facilitation, communication, and participatory approaches.
- Proficiency in report writing, documentation, and digital tools (MS Office, Kobo Toolbox, email, internet).
- Good command of Nepali & English (spoken/written); local language preferred.
- Must own a two-wheeler with a valid driving license.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse team and communities.
Expected Deliverables (Measurable Outputs)
- 2 case studies/month submitted timely.
- 1 monthly progress report + semi-annual & annual report.
- Quarterly stakeholder monitoring visits completed.
- 2+ improved farming practices/technologies introduced per quarter.
- 3+ market linkage activities annually.
- 4-5 joint initiatives with LG or like-minded organization and incentives in farming/ME.
