Background- Mr. Ram ,who is Visionary of SAN Nepal was born in Rauwahi Village of Bara in a poor Farmer family .His Father who has got respected name as” Babuji “ in the village and among whole SAN Family always sent his children to school for the education in spite of his Poverty .Mr. Ram had to be suffered during his high school education a lot and it was since then SAN Nepal vision came to take place in the memory of Mr. Ram on the day he was not allowed to attend the exam just because His parents could not pay a little amount of fee .On that Day SAN Nepal vision got born in heart and soul dreaming “ No more Child should suffer like I had to do suffer! “ Mr. Ram immediately wanted to build a dream School of SAN Free Model but he was just not well prepared .So,He took a bold step and went to Kathmandu without any penny money and therefore had to suffer a lot ( had to sleep on the street , had to sit hunger several days , had to work as Dish Cleaner full day just for some food and so on . More info: http://www.swc.org.np/SWC_NGOs_Total.pdf(page no.766) In the beginning of Year 2009 AD Mr. Ram just jumped into his village selling his only house in ktm and his only car and convinced his poor parents (Babuji – Father and Late Mahapati Devi – Mother ) and finally started building the dream SAN Free School on the belief that quality and marketable education is key to providing children with the opportunity for a prosperous life. Involving their whole family, they donated land and materials for the building of the SAN school in Rauwahi, which was completed by the end of the year 2009 AD and School came in operation from the beginning of 2010. Local youth became involved as leaders and teachers, and the school now has over 200 students.Around the same time the school was opened, SAN youth volunteers worked with local farmers to establish a cooperative savings group in Rauwahi. To encourage cooperative enterprise we ask that the parents of all students at the SAN school join the local cooperative, and it now has over 200 members. We have adopted the United Nations’ proclamation that “Cooperative Enterprises build a better world ‘’. 2. Vision To enhance prosperity and alleviate poverty in rural Nepal, and contribute to a society built upon the values of social justice and gender equality, in which everyone has access to free, quality and marketable education, micro-credit, and economic opportunity. 3. .Mission We are a grassroots non-profit organisation working to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions in Nepal’s rural communities. We believe that education and cooperative enterprise are the seeds of long-term economic empowerment for disadvantaged people. We offer free, quality and marketable education to rural children at our SAN School, and we work with local farmers to set up cooperative savings accounts, providing them with the training, seed money and market access that will help them create economic opportunities. In this way, we have made the parents responsible.The idea is like this -We provide free education to their children and they do micro saving for their own children. The rule is that Parents will not be allowed to withdraw this micro saved money until the children appear in the SLC.in the long run of 8 to 10 years, you can imagine , it will be meaningful amount in the hand of every students as seed money. This seed money will enable every students go for higher studies regardless of they are poor.For this ,we required to create Co-operative Project. There is Co-operative in Bara made up of School Parents.They do not only do micro saving for their children but also do micro saving micro lending and micro enterprises for themselves to generate income for their family for food and other basic needs.In the future, lets some a student is from poor family and he or she wished to study doctor or engineer so he/ she will not have to regret that he/she is poor .He /she can take lending from their co-operative and go for study and after study they work and pay back to co-operatives.in this way Co-operative is helping poor. Finally we can say that We are not only providing quality and marketable education but we are also able to give some meaningful seed money to every child and we believe that children /youths are builder of the Nation and that’s why we are building their capacity with marketable education plus the seed money. #3 We give at least a plant to every student of this free school at free of cost from our Nursery ,and we have made the parents responsible to help their children to plant , grow , and make it a big tree and conserve it . This is a must to every child and parents to be eligible to get free education.In this way, we are not only turning the community into green day by day but also contributing towards Global warming and at the same time we are educating children from their early childhood to love green , conserve green. This is very important feature of our Projects .We also have given the name of this project as OPPC meaning One Plant Per Child .And because it is based on the birthday and celebration so the name tells it SAN Birth Forest ! By now, you might have a question , how the free school and Health Project can run ? where the money comes from ? and how we can provide the plants at free of cost ? Here is the answer- We are self-sustainable in modality. Let me tell about our Birth-forest, Green Project - www.facebook.com/groups/sanbirthforest we have a Nursery created and anybody can rejoice celebrating their birthday , anniversary or any happy occasion in the meaningful and purposeful way and in the memorable way by donating plants in our Green Project. we hang the tag of their name and message with the the plants which they donate and it remains forever until it is a big tree and alive. They buy the plants from our SAN Nursery , in this way the nursery makes income and the income goes directly to support free School .Additionally Nursery sells the plants in the open market to generate income too.So, the plants we receive as donation from many people all along the year , we collect in the Green Project and once a year these are the plants we distribute at free of cost to the students of School.Also ,the donor who rejoiced their birthday or anniversary or any occasion in this way is meaningful , memorable. They have not only made it memorable but also contributed to Global warming regardless of where they are in the busy life of the world and also they contributed to support free education of poor. Thus ,every one wins !
