Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) is an organization established with an objective to assess and understand the risk to contribute to sustainability. Complying with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction(SFDRR), IHRR envisions to understand the risk and application of interdisciplinary knowledge with Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation to contribute for risk reduction and bridging of academic research with professionals and policymakers for sustainability. The team consists of professionals with expertise and experiences in the field of disaster risk management in understanding the risk, conducting academic research, and field-level implementations in Nepal and different parts of the world.

VACANCY FOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Research Associate - One
Duty Station: Lalitpur, Nepal
Reports to:  Senior Program Officer and Operation Coordinator 
Contract Type: Full-time

Position Overview: The Research Associate will be responsible for developing high-quality academic manuscripts, reports, and policy briefs derived from IHRR’s ongoing projects and research outputs. The role requires strong analytical, writing, and publication skills to translate project findings into impactful academic and scientific contributions. As a key team member, the position will also support day-to-day program coordination, content creation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic positioning to develop quality publications.

VACANCY FOR FIELD COORDINATOR

Field Coordinator - One

Project: Digital and Spatial Technology for Anticipatory Action (DASTAA) for Multi-Hazard and Multi-Sectoral Preparedness Planning 
Duty Station: Barbardiya, Bardiya, Nepal
Reporting To: Senior Program Officer & Operation Coordinator, IHRR
Contract Type: Full-time, (6 months, with possibility of extension)

Job Summary: The Field Officer (Anticipatory Action) will be seconded to the Barbardiya to support and strengthen the capacity of the local authority in managing disaster risk information systems, strengthening early warning mechanisms, implementing Impact Based Weather Forecasting (IBF), supporting data-driven anticipatory actions, and ensuring timely risk communication. The role is essential to bridge the gap between community-level data and municipal-level decision-making in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. Hence, the Field Coordinator will contribute to empower local communities with early warning systems, multi-hazard risk assessments, and anticipatory action tools for a resilient future.

Job Summary: 

The Admin & Finance Associate will be responsible for providing administrative, financial, and logistical support to ensure effective and efficient project implementation. The role includes managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting budgeting and reporting processes, and assisting in procurement and logistics. The Associate will also support office administration, documentation, and compliance with organizational and donor policies.
