Announcement of Vacancies

Okhaldhunga Community Hospital (OCH) is a 50-bed rural hospital located east of Kathmandu, about a day’s journey by vehicle. We provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services to the surrounding communities, including orthopaedics (approx. 250 procedures per year), obstetrics, general medicine, surgery, physiotherapy, paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, and primary care. The hospital also offers an appropriate range of investigative and therapeutic services, including a C-ARM, and is associated with a thriving community-based rehabilitation programme. It serves as a referral centre for the district’s health posts, with additional referrals from surrounding districts. Traumatic fractures, road traffic accidents and general trauma cases are seen frequently.

Position: Orthopaedic Surgeon

Required No.: 1

Main Role

Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of orthopaedic services, including outpatient and inpatient care and operative interventions.

Qualification

Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Surgery, or equivalent, from a recognised university, with specialist registration with the Nepal Medical Council.

Preferred Experiences

Newly graduated orthopaedic surgeons are welcome to apply.

One to two years of work experience as an orthopaedic consultant would be an advantage.

Position: Medical Officer

Required No.: 1

Main Role:

Work as a member of the hospital medical team, providing care to inpatients, outpatients and patients in the Emergency Room. Participate in the doctors’ on-call duty roster.

Qualification

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), or equivalent, from a recognised university with Nepal Medical Council registration.

Preferred Experiences

Newly graduated medical officers are welcome to apply.

One to two years of experience working as a hospital-based medical officer would be an advantage.

Position: Health Assistant/CMA (Emergency Room & Outpatient Department)

Main Role:

Work as a member of the Emergency Room team, providing care to patients presenting to OCH with urgent medical needs. Participate in the 24-hour Emergency Room duty roster. Occasionally assist in the Outpatient Department of the hospital to gain broader clinical exposure and experience.

Qualifications

Proficiency Certificate Level in General Medicine (Health Assistant) recognised by CTEVT Nepal. Community Medical Assistant (CMA) recognised by CTEVT Nepal.

Preferred Experiences

Newly graduated Health Assistants are welcome to apply.

One to two years of working as a hospital-based paramedic in emergency care would be an advantage.

CMA applicants must have at least two years of work experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

Grade: HA - 5/CMA - 4

Position: Pharmacist/Pharmacy In-charge

Required No.: 1

Main Role:

Work as a member of the hospital team to oversee the pharmacy services of OCH. Ensure safe and effective dispensing of medicines, maintain proper stock and supply of drugs, and provide counselling to patients and staff regarding the correct use of medicines. Take responsibility for pharmacy records, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to quality patient care through the rational use of medicines.

Qualification

Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) recognised by the Nepal Pharmacy Council.

Preferred Experiences

Newly graduated pharmacists are welcome to apply.

One to two years of hospital or clinical pharmacy experience would be an advantage.

Grade: 6
