VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Green Foundation Nepal in support of the Tenure Facility Funded Project “Securing and Deepening Community Forest Rights in Nepal through Local Government and Coordinated Local Actions” in collaboration with FECOFUN and CIPRED, is implementing projects’ objectives in 37 local Governments. The project aims mainly to secure and strengthen community forestry rights of local communities and IPs through legal arrangements, capacity building, data management and analysis, and coordination with local government and stakeholders. GFN is engaged with local governments, IPs & LCs, women, youths, Dalits, marginalized communities, cooperatives, and community entrepreneurs. The engagement is made more inclusive and participatory in each activity and event. The participants and IPs & LCs were pre-formed about the objectives and targeted groups and it was scheduled accordingly.

1. Position: Cluster Project Coordinator

Location: The Cluster Project Coordinator is a field-based position of Green Foundation Nepal in the Kailali and Surkhet district. The Cluster Project Coordinator directly reports to the Central project staff and National Project Coordinator.

No of Positions: 2 (Two)

Duration: 6 Month with possible extension

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Cluster Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks during the implementation of the Tenure Facility project in Nepal.

  • Plan, execute, and support in implementation of activities in consultation and coordination with the Local as well as District FECOFUN chapters and local government.
  • Responsible for facilitating, drafting, and implementing the local forest law and CF Operation Guidelines within the working municipalities.
  • Provide technical support to Community Forest Users Group (CFUGs) in preparing, and amending operational plan and constitution.
  • Analyze the inventory data and prescribe appropriate harvesting and management plans.
  • Facilitating and Capacity Building of IPLCs in identifying and developing the forest. based green enterprise thereby leveraging the funds from the local Municipalities.
  • Responsible for ensuring understanding and capacity on relevant laws, indigenous forest management activities, and sub-decrees especially to IP& Cs, Marginalized groups, women, and youth by accomplishing the objective aim and outcome.
  • Implements progressive monitoring and evaluation of project activities and capacities or communities through regular communication and interaction with project target beneficiaries and partners, including local authorities.
  • Regular1y gather all the pertinent data and create a synthetic report.
  • Regular entry and update of Community Forest Data on the Community Forest Data Portal System in online and offline mode.
  • Regular communication with the local community about the program's purpose, objectives, and goal, working methodology, and let the liaison and implementing office know if there are any conflicts or problems.
  • Knowledge about Gender equality and social inclusion and GESI Justice.
  • Well coordination and collaboration skills with local governments and other stakeholders
  • Undertake other appropriate tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry.
  • At least two years of proven experience conducting training and workshops in sustainable natural resource management, Forest inventory, and Community Forest operational plan preparation.
  • Knowledge or forest-based enterprise promotion, resource mapping, tenure rights, CFUGs, and IPs rights.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken Nepali and English
  • Know the concept of Community Forest, Constitution, and Operational plan.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and activity as well as program report preparation
  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills to engage and encourage government officials, development workers, CFUGs, IPs, and other experts and involve them in IPs and LCs rights and issues
  • Willing to travel in the field and remote area.
  • Two Wheeler’s Driver’s License

2. Position: Communication and IT Associate

Location: Kathmandu with frequent field visits across project sites

Duration: 1 year, Possibility of extension

Job Description:

Purpose:

The Communication and IT Associate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing media relations, and documenting the organization's activities. This role involves creating content, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring effective communication practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Communication Strategy and Content Creation:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Create compelling content for various communication channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication platforms.

2. Media Relations and Outreach:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media representatives and outlets to promote the organization's initiatives and events.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, organize press conferences, and manage media inquiries and interviews.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on media outreach activities.

3. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Manage the documentation of project activities, including writing reports, case studies, and success stories.
  • Maintain a repository of photos, videos, and other media materials for documentation purposes.
  • Prepare regular reports on communication activities and their impact.

4. Digital and Social Media Management:

  • Manage the organization's digital presence, including website content management and social media platforms.
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns to engage stakeholders and raise awareness about the organization's work.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in media relations, communication, or documentation, preferably in the non-profit or environmental sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages, both written and spoken.
  • At least Two-Wheeler’s Driving License.

3. Position: Green Intern

Location: This Internship is a field-based position of Green Foundation Nepal among 37 Palikas located at Lumbini, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpaschim Province. Volunteer will directly report to Cluster Project Coordinator and to the Central Project staffs. 

Duration: 3 Months (with possibility of extension based on performance)

Type: Paid Intern

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support in implementation of activities in consultation and coordination with the Local as well as District FECOFUN chapters and local government in coordination with Cluster Project Coordinator.
  • Work for facilitating, drafting, and implementing the local forest law and CF Operation Guidelines within the working municipalities.
  • Provide technical support to Cluster Project Coordinator in preparing, and amending Community Forest User Groups Operational plan and constitution.
  • Facilitate the Cluster Project Coordinator in conducting consultation, capacity building training and preparing social map, cadastral survey and governance mapping. 
  • Regularly gather all the data on Community Forest and create a synthetic report.
  • Regular communication with the local community about the program's purpose, objectives, and goal, working methodology.
  • Coordination and collaboration skills with local governments and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake other appropriate tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree graduate or final year running in Forestry, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, Social Science, and any other related fields.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Nepali and English.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and activity as well as program report preparation.
  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills to engage and encourage government officials, development workers, CFUGs, IPs, and other experts and involve them in IPs and LCs rights and issues.
  • Two-Wheeler Driving License.

4. Position: Driver

To support effective implementation and mobility across the project sites, GFN is seeking a qualified and experienced Driver who can be readily available seven days a week and willing to travel frequently across Nepal as per organizational needs.

Duty Station: Based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits across project sites

Duration: One year (with possibility of extension based on performance)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and timely transportation of staff and project materials to various destinations.
  • Regular maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Maintain proper vehicle logs and travel records.
  • Follow all traffic rules and organizational travel policies.
  • Provide logistical support during field visits and events.
  • Attend to various organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Nepali driving license (Category “A” and “B”).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Good knowledge of roads and terrain across Nepal, especially rural and remote areas.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Physically fit, polite, and responsive with good communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.

Preferred:

  • Experience driving in remote hill and Terai regions.
  • Familiarity with working in development or community-based organizations.
