Green Tara Nepal(GTN)

Green Tara Nepal, a non-political, non-profit making non-governmental organization, established in 2007, has been working in the field of maternal and child health. It works in research, publications, advocacy, training and social mobilization in a holistic community development approach. Green Tara Nepal aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban, rich and poor and men and women in accessing services and improving healthy behaviors through community development and health promotion approach.

Garima Project (Dignity for Women - ending Chhaupadi in Nepal) Project (2021-2024) aims to restore dignity for women, ensuring they experience safe and hygienic menstruation free from discrimination. We will work cross-sector to educate, empower and support change for women in Khaptad Chhanna Rural municipality of Bajhang and Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality of Bajura districts. Expected outcomes of this project is to create the conditions to eliminate the most oppressive elements of Chhaupadi and lay the foundations for women's freedom to choose safe menstruation practices.

This project is implemented in partnership with Green Tara Nepal (GTN) and Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED). Technical and financial support in this project is available from Karuna Deutschland, Karuna Trust and BMZ.

We are looking for experienced and highly qualified Nepali candidates for the following positions. Candidates with proven skills of meeting the requirements and dedicated to work in NGO are encouraged to apply for this position:

1. Position: Field Manager (under REED Nepal)

Required number: 1

Duty station: Khaptad Chhanna Rural municipality (Field Office) with frequent travel to programme districts/wards

Required Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor in Education, Health or Social Sciences (Master Degree preferred)
  • At least 3 years working experiences in district/local level
  • Involvement in program implementation, human resource and financial management, coordination with funders and local stakeholders

Major Responsibilities

a) Programme planning and implementation

  • Planning, developing and implementing of activities at the districts.
  • Mobilisation of Project Steering Committee (formation and mobilisation for project planning).
  • Lead to implement the programmatic decisions.
  • Manage and maintain effective coordination and collaboration with local government/authorities for smooth implementation of the project; and to ensure project activities are well understood and accepted at local levels.
  • Provide regular coaching and support to project staffs in districts conduct the target groups’ sessions on related areas and encourage them to manifesting targeted behaviours.

b) Recording and reporting

  • Keep up-to-date record (detail information of all the stakeholders at the local level).
  • Promote the visibility of the programme, through service events, displays and exhibitions, media, reports, case stories and publications in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Timely report the routine program performance (quarterly and annual reports) following the defined templates.

c) Coordination and advocacy

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the programme area including District Coordination Committee, Health Office, Education Office, rural municipalities, municipalities, the target community, government health facilities, Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs), local NGO/CBOs.

d) Training/teaching

  • Organising training, review meetings and capacity building activities in the schools and communities (health workers, FCHVs and teachers)

e) Administrative/ financial

  • Work as a supervisor of all district-based staff.
  • Financial control at the district level. Submit financial and administrative documents as requested and required by central office.

2. Position: Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Officer (under Green Tara Nepal)

Required number: 1

Duty station: Khaptad Chhanna Rural municipality (Field Office) with frequent travel to programme districts/wards

Required Experiences/Competencies:

  • Qualification:
    • Master in Public Health or Social Sciences or Bachelor in Public with three years’ experience
  • Experiences/Competencies:
    • Familiar with the research ethics, research proposal development, coordination for field work, survey tool development

Major Responsibilities

a) Conduct baseline survey:

  • Research protocol development including research tools in English and Nepali (questionnaire, IDI and FGD guideline), obtaining NHRC ethical approval,
  • Recruitment, training, monitoring and supervision of data enumerators and data collection
  • Data entry and analysis and report writing

b) Ethnographic study

  • Overall leading of ethnographic study (participatory appraisal at the project sites, social mapping, tools development, monitoring, data entry and analysis)
  • Coordination with technical experts and advisors

c) Project monitoring

  • Development of monitoring framework and tools (forms/formats) in coordination with Project Manager
  • Conduct supporting monitoring visit and provide on-site coaching to field staff and provide feedback
  • Ensure routine data quality assurance (systematic management of records both in digital and hardcopy, entry, cleaning and processing).

d) Project evaluation

  • Evaluation design: Develop evaluation tools, recruitment, training, monitoring and supervision of data enumerators
  • Data entry, analysis, report writing and dissemination

3. Position: Admin/Finance Supervisor (under Green Tara Nepal)

Required number: 1

Duty station: Khaptad Chhanna Rural municipality (Field Office) with frequent travel to programme districts/wards 

Required Experiences/Competencies:

  • Qualification:
    • Intermediate in management/ +12 (bachelor preferred)
    • Minimum +12 pass in management or equivalent degree.
  • Experiences/Competencies:
    • Ability in managing fund and provide feedback to the staff members
    • Experienced in financial system, documentation, vouchering
    • Familiar with financial system and procurement policy of the law of land

Major Responsibilities

a) Financial

  • Regular reporting of the service data in the reporting format.
  • Keep up-to-date record (detail information of all the stakeholders at the local level).

b) Administrative:

  • Maintain leave records, administrative works
  • Prepare detailed project implementation plan according to master plan/ result matrix.

c) Logistics

  1. Update list of materials/equipment in the office, insurance documents, hand over forms/formats, incoming and out-going materials

Other Attributes:

Excellent quality of work and commitment to high standards, strong communication skills, team building and willingness and motivated for good service delivery with strong networking and interpersonal skills and comfortable to work under stress and pressures.

Selected candidates must adherence to GTN and REED’s policies and procedures, protocols, code of conduct with special attention to Child Protection Policies and Do No Harm approach including funding agency’s policies, guidelines and agreements.
