Start and Improve Your Business (SYIB) Training
Background:
Center for Development and Disaster Management (CDM Nepal) in partnership with Islamic Relief Nepal is implementing “Promotion of Resilience of Poor and Vulnerable Communities of Lumbini Province of Nepal (PRVC)" and “Resilient Livelihood of Vulnerable Farmers in Rupandehi District of Nepal (ReLi)” projects in Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province. The Project is being implemented in two Municipalities namely Sammarimai Rural Municipality and Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality.
The project aims for improved livelihood, increase income,food security, WASH, and build resilience among poor and vulnerable households in two Municipalities of Rupandehi district that poor and vulnerable peoples. This will be achieved through better access on diversified livelihood option, irrigation assets, developing community productive infrastructure, introduction of climate adaptive and resilient agricultural practices, livestock rearing and market linked alternative livelihoods. Ultra-poor families will be able to enhance their income and improve food security towards better resilience to climate change impact.
CDM Nepal has invited to submit proposals from eleigible individuals with relevant experiences on "Start and Improve Your Business'' to facilitate training to the micro entrepreneurs of PRVC and ReLi project from Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality and Sammarimai Rural municipality of Rupandehi district. Entrepreneurship development training is essential to micro entrepreneurs along with other training and inputs/technical assistance to improve their services and/or assess their efforts against best practice standards. In line with the project objective for resilient income generation, the project will help micro entrepreneurs to start up and revive their businesses.
Objectives of the Assignment
The objective of this TOR is to engage a qualified trainer with co-trainer to conduct a training program on the SIYB program. The training program will be targeted at entrepreneurs and small business owners who are looking to start or improve their businesses.
- Facilitate the “Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB)” training based on standard of International Labour Organization (ILO) manual to training participants.
- Facilitate to develop the individual business plan of the micro enterprises as per the preference of beneficiary's, with details of essentials material support required, in the business startup.
- To enable the selected beneficiaries to start and grow their enterprise
Scope of Services and Tasks and Activities to be completed
The overall scope of this assignment is to hire a consultant to facilitate the ILO certified entrepreneurship development training called “Start and Improve Your Business-SIYB”. Activities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Preparation for the sessions, resources and submission the session to CDM Nepal prior to training.
- Execute pre and post-test evaluation of the participants.
- Facilitate the training program as lead facilitator with support from co-facilitator in 2 places at once in parallel during August-Sept 2023. Therefore, the consultant should propose 2 lead facilitators and 2 co facilitators for the trainings.
- The consultant should ensure that the task is completed within 15 days in total (2 events in parallel X 5 days X 5 groups during August 2023), (number of events and is subject to change/increase).
- Facilitator has prime responsible to collection and preparation of the training materials required for the training.
Outputs/Deliverables
The following deliverables are expected from the consultant in due process of the assignment:
- Conduct and facilitation of the entrepreneurship training at municipal level to 145 IGA selected members through 6 training events (2 events in parallel).
- Finalization of comprehensive business plan, costing of the multiple products for 145 trainees.
- Trainees increased ability to follow the developed business plan.
- Trainees improved ability to start enterprises and marketing of their product
- Training materials from the consultant and a combined training completion report
Reporting Line
The consultant will report to CDM's Project Coordinator of the PRVC and ReLi Project
Time-frame
The training should be completed within 15 days (2 events in parallel X 5 days X 150 micro entrepreneurs groups during August 2023). Thus, there should be 2 group of trainer with lead and co-facilities. The input of per group will be of 15 days. The exact dates will be determined in consultation with the trainers.
Qualifications and experience of the consultant
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Business study or social sciences-related fields. Preferably a master’s degree.
- At least 3 years experiences with certified as SIYB trainer from IEDI Secretariat on developing and delivering the content of SIYB training.
- Experience in business management and entrepreneurship, including the challenges and opportunities that entrepreneurs and small business owners face.
- Highly preferable to understand the local context and community of Rupandehi District.
- Extensive knowledge on Business development and micro entrepreneurship.
- Excellent report writing skills in both English and Nepali.
- Capacity to present the content in clear and straightforward to the targeted participants.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Payment Schedule
All statuary tax shall be deducted to all payment as per the taxation rules of Nepal Government
- First Instalment: 30% upon both parties’ agreement
- Second Instalment: 40 % after completion of training with submission of draft training report.
- Third Instalment: 30% of agreement amount will be paid after the acceptance the final training report and submission of final invoices Submission of Proposal and budget
