‘Scaling up climate resilient agriculture for sustainable livelihood of smallholder farmers in Nepal’ is funded by Bread for the World (BftW) Germany and is being implemented by LI-BIRD  in Sindhupalchowk and Kaski district in Nepal since 2018 and is currently in its second phase. The project aims to enhance the livelihood of smallholder farmers through the promotion of Climate Resilient Agricultural (CRA) approaches, technologies and practices. The Phase-II is till September 2024 and LI-BIRD is anticipating Phase-III from October 2024 onwards. 

LI-BIRD is anticipating the project ‘Green Evolution: Pathways for Food System Transformation’ to be funded by the Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project will be implemented in Surkhet; Dailekh and Jumla covering five municipalities. The project aims to support the implementation of national pathways towards equitable, responsible and sustainable food systems and is expected to strengthen the local agroecological systems through improved policy frameworks, operational structures and multi stakeholder cooperation at all levels. 

Green Resilient Agricultural Productive Ecosystem (GRAPE) is jointly funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and European Union and is being implemented by GIZ and ICIMOD in Nepal. The project aims to improve climate resilience and sustainability of agro-ecosystems in Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal through the promotion of various climate-resilient agriculture technologies and practices. The GRAPE project has 4 fields of actions (FAs): i) Economic Governance, ii) Action Research, iii) Roll out, and iv) Scaling up. The GRAPE FA2: Action Research and GRAPE FA3: Roll out are managed by ICIMOD and GIZ respectively and implemented by LI-BIRD in Bajura, Dadeldhura, Doti and Kailai districts of Sudur Paschim Province.

1) Team Leader (Level-9)-1, (Women only, based at LI-BIRD Head Office, Ranipauwa, Pokhara, Kaski) 

Job Summary: Reporting to the Programme Operations Director, the Team Leader (TL) is responsible for overall management of the BftW funded Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) project by providing a leadership role in the areas of planning, monitoring & evaluation coordination, documentation and reporting. The TL ensures proper management of the project resources including staff and budget. TL is responsible for building a relationship with the donor, providing technical guidance and maintaining congenial working relationships with other projects. TL requires establishing the highest level of coordination with governments, Bftw partners and other key stakeholders at the local, provincial and national level. TL also requires to work closely with various units at LI-BIRD to ensure adequate coordination and programme synergies.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Organic/Ecological Agriculture, Conservation Ecology, Natural Resource Management or related discipline, with 5 years’ work experience in project management.

2)  Senior Programme Officer (Level 8)-1, (based at LI-BIRD Site Office, Birendranagar, Surkhet)

Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, the senior programme officer, will be responsible for the overall management of the project at the province level by providing the leadership role in planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and overall coordination with key stakeholders. SPO’s key duties include: efficient management of the project resources including staff and budget; building relationships with donors and other consortium partners; coordinating with the local and provincial governments for leveraging resources and building synergies in programme implementation and scaling up of potential innovations; monitoring of project interventions/activities on regular basis and providing technical guidance to the project team and beneficiaries to achieve project outcomes.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the field of Agriculture with specialization in agroecology, conservation agriculture, natural resource management or related field with minimum three years of work experience.

3)  Admin and Finance Assistant (Level 3 or 4) -1, (Women only, based at LI-BIRD Site Office, Budar, Doti)

Job Summary: The Admin & Finance Assistant (AFA) will report to the Team Leader (GRAPE FA2) and will be primarily responsible for account keeping of GRAPE FA2 and GRAPE FA3 projects. S/he will also support the project team on administration, procurement and logistics management. S/he will coordinate with relevant staff to ensure accounting and documentation of all financial transactions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in commerce/management, with 2 years of relevant work experience or 10+2 in management with 3 years experience in relevant field.
