Background

The KOICA Inclusive Rural Development Project in Bardiya District, Nepal 2024~2029 (IRDB Project) is being implemented across eight municipalities in Bardiya District, Lumbini Province. The project aims to revitalize the local economy through the promotion of Locally Initiated Projects (LIPs).

The project is implemented in collaboration with the Government of Nepal and the Government of the Republic of Korea, and is managed by the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) comprising Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) and Global Expert Hub Consultancy (GEH).

KDS invites applications from qualified, competent, and self-motivated Nepalese candidates for  the following position:

Position Details

1. Position Title: Senior Project Officer (SPO) 

Number of Positions: 1 (One) 

Duty Station: Project Management Office (PMO), Bansgadhi Municipality, Bardiya District (with frequent field visits)

Academic Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with minimum 7 years of relevant experience in financial and administrative management - preferably with donor-funded organizations, INGOs/NGOs, or government projects. Prior experience working with KOICA or similar bilateral or multilateral donors is highly desirable.

Key Skills and Knowledge

Strong financial management, accounting, and analytical skills; proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; sound knowledge of financial procedures, taxation, and procurement requirements; strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills; high level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail; and fluency in Nepali with working knowledge of English.

2. Position Title: Project Coordinator (PC) 

Number of Positions: 2 (Two) 

Duty Station: Project Management Office (PMO), Bansgadhi Municipality, Bardiya District, approximately 90% field based

Academic Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Development Studies, Social Science Management, or a related field, with a minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in field-level coordination, monitoring, or implementation of rural development, livelihoods, agriculture, or value chain projects. Demonstrated experience working with local governments, cooperatives, and/or community-based organizations in Nepal is required. Sound understanding of local government structures, cooperative operations, rural livelihood development, and community-based development approaches is essential, along with working knowledge of development partner/donor-funded project procedures. Experience with KOICA-funded projects is an advantage.

Key Skills and Knowledge

Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel; good report writing, documentation, and data management skills; ability to work independently and effectively in a field-based, multi-stakeholder environment; sensitivity to local social, cultural, ethnic, and gender contexts; fluency in Nepali and English, with knowledge of local Tharu languages an advantage; and a valid two-wheeler driving license.
