Founded in 1991, Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level leading NGO working in Nepal from local to global level with feminist values to support and bridge collective actions for women rights and feminist movement. Together with collaborators from a diverse range of feminist human rights movements and networks, WOREC works to advance the rights of women in diversity. WOREC advocates for affirmative structural and social changes influencing national and international actors. WOREC works for the protection and promotion of women's human rights and social justice with the campaigns against violence against women, and women's economic, social and cultural rights. WOREC is active nation-wide by its presence with central office in Lalitpur, provincial and district offices in 6 provinces. Job Description

Senior/Program Officer having feminist values works in close coordination with concerned Coordinator/Manager, and with WOREC's networks in achieving the goal and objectives of the right to work, heath and sustainable livelihoods programs and interventions against violence against women and girls under the campaigns of Violence against Women and ESCR and Human rights and Social Justice campaigns. Senior/Program Officer (S/PO) is mainly responsible for training coordination, workshops and interaction program planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting, documenting, stakeholder communications, publication and coordination with central office, provincial offices, district offices and communities. S/PO will bring good knowledge on training and interaction coordination, understanding of development sector, rights-based approach, women's peace and security, social justice and reflect them in the programs. S/PO also assists the Program Coordinators for program development, proposal writing, tracking all specific and short-term projects that have specified deliverables. S/PO works in close coordination with Program Coordinators, District Coordinators and Program Managers of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to oversee the programs including right to work, health, sustainable livelihoods, rights to mobility and access to justice. Support the Program Coordinators and District Coordinators of different programs of organization.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual program implementation plan related to assigned programs and campaigns.
  • Ensure that all planned activities are being implemented effectively, documented properly and reported timely by field officers, counselors and supervisors and that the reports are prepared timely.
  • Develop new project concept notes and project proposal under the guidance and supervision of PCs and ED.
  • Support the team and provide technical inputs for programs under VAW and ESCR campaigns.
  • Plan, design and conduct staff capacity building program and provide technical support to all community-based organization, counseling centers and respective staff when and where they need.
  • Organize training, advocacy campaigns, workshop conferences/seminar and interaction programs in coordination with different national and international partners.
  • Develop and implement the initiatives for women's rights and social justice from feminist perspective, develop strategies and activities along with the team members and take lead to implement, manage and monitor them.
  • Facilitate for and maintain proper program reporting, documentation of cases, success stories, initiatives/works of the organization, including periodic and annual reports and year book; and also ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Maintains strong coordination and collaboration with NGO's/ INGO's and government stakeholders and networks and inter-governmental organizations working on similar issues.

Required Qualification and Experience: 

The candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences: Rural Development, Sociology, Social Works, Law or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of related working experience in handling projects and programs. 
  • Knowledge on training coordination, network building, understanding of development sector and rights-based approach.
  • The candidate should have knowledge of local and regional context of human rights, social justice and women's ESC rights.  
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively in both Nepali and English languages. 
  • Computer literacy.
