The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal), a national level NGO, dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity and launches a call for applications in its project, called 'Manko Sathi- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Promotion', implemented in Siraha and Dhaunsa from June 2025, funded and supported by CBM Global. This project aims to improve psychosocial wellbeing of children and adolescents, including those with disabilities and out of schools. 

It therefore seeks candidates for the following position:

1. Senior Psychosocial Counsellor- 1 full-time position for 6 months, based in Provincial Office, Janakpurdham with field visits to project locations) 

Position Overview: The Senior Psychosocial Counsellor (SPC) is responsible to coordinate with local level, health facility, schools and OPD and implement project activities for the systematic exit of the project from the project locations of previous phase of the project (old project locations). The SPC is expected to provide technical inputs to the project team to develop IEC and reference materials as required in the project related to child and adolescent mental health in consultation with the technical team of CMC-Nepal. 

Duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Collaborate with the project team and support implementation of the project activities in old project locations for the systematic exit of the project 
  • Coordinate with local level for the policy advocacy for mainstreaming of child mental health into the existing health care delivery and education system 
  • Arrange supervision at health facilities and schools with the trained health service providers and teachers and strengthen referral mechanism at health facility from the schools, and health facility to Madesh Provincial Hospital or other specialized service centres
  • Build the capacity of OPDs in child mental health and disability inclusion
  • Review the project document and support to the project team to develop IEC and reference materials in related to child mental health, disability inclusion and mental health promotion 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any one of the domains such as Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or Nursing or Education, and be trained on a 6-month psychosocial counselling course under the NHTC or any other recognized professional organization. A candidate with Master’s in Psychology or NHTC certified Psychosocial Counsellor and is currently working as a supervisor for PS counsellor will be given priority.  
  • At least 3 years of experience having worked as a senior psychosocial counsellor or psychosocial supervisor, preferably with children and adolescents, including children with disabilities. 
  • Practical and strong background in supervising project team members in mental health and psychosocial perspective will be advantage for the post.  
  • Having good comprehension and learning attitude in mental health, preferably in child and adolescent mental health, psychosocial interventions and disability inclusion.
  • Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs/OPDs) for the effectiveness of implementation of the project activities and its upscaling and sustainability.
  • Good report writing, documentation and communication skills in both English and Nepali language.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Willing to be based in Madesh Province and travel in the project areas.
