Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international conservation charity founded in 1826 as the world's first scientific zoological society. During its near 200 years history, it has had a firm legacy of conservation, research, and animal care in over 50 countries, helping it pursue its vision of a world where wildlife thrives. ZSL's purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people so that they understand their roles in helping stop wild animals from going extinct. ZSL has been working in Nepal for the past 27 years. After having formally established a country office in 2014, ZSL has actively supported the Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE) to achieve its conservation goals across Nepal through the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. ZSL Nepal Office is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result oriented Nepalese citizens for our Senior Program Officer position.

1.     Senior Program Officer

The Senior Program Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on ZSL-implemented projects, ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders to facilitate evidence-based decision-making. The Senior Program Officer will work closely with the Program Manager and Policy Coordinator to coordinate with the relevant government agencies, implementing partners and buffer zone management committees to ensure effective implementation of the projects. 

Qualifications: The post holder should have Master’s degree in environmental science, forestry, natural resource management and/or related natural science topic with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sustainable natural resource management, organizational capacity development, working in complex political and conservation environments along with a sound knowledge and understanding of conservation context of Nepal including conservation policies and plans of Nepal, PA and BZ management and HWC management. Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization.
