Background

Children as Zones of Peace National Campaign (CZOP) is a national coalition of organizations working in the field of child rights that was formed in 2003 as a loose network in order to undertake collective advocacy to coordinate and integrate the efforts for protection and promotion of the rights of the children affected from armed conflict. Currently, it has sixty member organizations representing all seven provinces, where National Human Rights Commission, UNICEF and Nepal Red Cross Society are involved as observer members. CZOP was registered at District Administration Office, affiliated to Social Welfare Council.

Since the beginning, CZOP has been emerged as a continuous movement advocating for children’s basic rights during and after armed-conflict. Institutionalizing its efforts of advocacy, this coalition has been forged to magnify and strengthen declaring Children and Schools as Zones of Peace and urge all the stakeholders including Government and Non-Government Institutions to fulfil their obligations towards children in a strong, united, neutral and effective manner.

CZOP seeks application from interested candidates for the following positions to fulfil given responsibilities

1. Job title: Program Officer

Duty station: Kathmandu (with frequent travel to provinces/districts)

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed-term until December 2023

Purpose:

The Program Officer will be responsible for implementation of high quality child rights related programs, and ensuring their outcomes. Moreover, s/he will be responsible to support Program Manager (PM) for the implementation of ongoing projects and campaigns in close consultation with CZOP team, executive board, networks, member organizations and development partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program and Network Coordination Officer shall focus his/her work in translating the plans and budgets into actions by appropriate implementing strategies, tools and techniques. More specifically, the officer shall:

  1. Assist the Program Manager in overall day-to-day functions of the CZOP Secretariat.
  2. Provide necessary information to the PM which are important for communication between the project and, partners, Donor/Resource Partner and relevant government and non-government agencies,
  3. Support the PM and coordinate in conducting all campaign activities at central, province as well as local levels,
  4. Support the PM in preparing work-plans and procedural guidelines of each project event according to the project document,
  5. Work for mobilizing a wide range of stakeholders, CSOs and interested communities in the process of project implementation,
  6. Keep records and documents of each project activity of centre, provincial as well as  local level,
  7. Collect and/or draft activity reports and prepare progress reports in close consultation with PM.
  8. Assist the PM to supervise and evaluate the performances of field level activities,
  9. Maintain visibility by publishing brochures and newsletters, producing reports, updating websites, managing social mediaplatforms as well.
  10. Assist the Admin and Finance Officer in managing finance and budgets of the project by providing proper information and recommendations,
  11. Facilitate communication between the project team and board, CZOP partners and relevant state and non-state agencies effectively,
  12. Support the PM to facilitate/coordinate  workshops, meetings, discussion programmes and seminars at  all level,
  13. Perform other activities as per the direction of the PM and the executive board of CZOP.

  2. Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability. 
  3. Familiar with campaign and mobilization tools and techniques,
  4. Excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills for advocacy, lobbying and campaign.
  5. Able to mobilize diverse civil society organizations (CSOs) for the broader cause.
  6. Able to coordinate with state and non-state actors as per necessity and demands of the project activities. 
  7. Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills. 
  8. Willing to work in weekend and maintain high standard with minimum supervision
  9. Willing and able to travel as per need.

Qualification, Required Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism, Social Sciences or related field (Master's Degree is preferred)

Experience: At least three years of working experiences in the area of child rights and protection issue, democratic governance, freedom of expression and independence, media mobilization and child/human/women rights, networking and campaigning, Experience of promoting citizen engagement at both national and sub-national level; and proven track record and sound knowledge on different media and child rights related projects. 

Language Proficiency: Good spoken and written English and Nepali language

Communication: Excellent inter-personal communication skills and learning attitude

2. Job title: Admin and Finance Officer

Duty station: Kathmandu (with necessary travel to provinces/districts)

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed-term until December 2023

Duties and Responsibilities

Admin and Finance Officer will work under close and direct supervision of Program Manager. The specific duties and responsibilities of the AFO include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Lead the overall administrative and financial activities of CZOP
  2. Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Financial Statements required for donor/funding agencies ensuring whether the expenditure is in line with the approved budget breakdown and accounting principles
  3. Prepare, report and ensure the financial transactions, payments and procurements held as per organization policy and government regulations
  4. Verify the monthly or quarterly reconciliation report of bank account and expenditure for the reporting period
  5. Submit financial and admin report to Program Manager on accounting principles, entry of vouchers/transaction into FAMAS software and production of required financial reports and statements
  6. Develop necessary reporting formats for having sound finance management of organization in consultation to the Program Manager and Board for its implementation.
  7. Coordinate  and attend the meetings with government line agencies, CSOs and other stakeholders
  8. Ensure annual planning, periodic review and timely reporting of the projects and organizational activities
  9. Arrange administrative supports for the program operation and CZOP campaign as assigned by the Coordinator and executive board.
  10. Assist the executive board, treasurer and the Program Manager in preparing the annual budgets of CZOP and its projects
  11. Maintain daily record of all financial transactions of the CZOP
  12. Other tasks as assigned in regards to financial reporting, verification and accounting 
  13. Prepare and submit the organizational financial report to the Program Manager and Executive Board semiannually and before General Assembly.

Core Competencies 

  1. Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Nepali, 
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including financial software use of Microsoft Office tools 
  3. Ability to  collaborate at a different levels in the organization
  4. Ability to work independently and as an active team player, should be self-motivated and have a high level of integrity and honesty
  5. Willing to work under pressure, creative and innovative with decision making and problem solving

Qualification, Required Skills and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business administration and finance management related fields (Masters preferred)

Experience: At least 3 years of working experience administration and finance management in NGO sector (preference will be given to those having work experience in INGO sector)

Language Proficiency: Good spoken and written English and Nepali language

Communication: Excellent inter-personal communication skills and learning attitude

Computer proficiency: Ability to use basic MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, and FAMAS accounting software

3. Job title: Program Associate

Duty station: Kathmandu (with necessary travel to provinces/districts)

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed-term until December 2023

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Logistic support for workshop, training, meetings and consultations at the federal and provincial level.
  2. Make activities reports, compile and insert in the prescribed format of the Project and CZOP.
  3. Assist Program Officer for event reporting and compilation for the thematic report, monthly reporting, collect supporting documents for admin and finance and program.
  4. To liaise between individual members of CZOP, CSOS and other agencies to conduct activities and campaign on child rights protection.
  5. Support to develop IEC materials, publication, developing Terms of Reference (ToR) as for the program activities guided by PM and project activities operational guide. Dissemination IEC and publication as per need.
  6. Communicate to Consultant and Resource person as of the project activities guided and deploy by PM and AFO.
  7. Regular update on the social Mediaplatforms of CZOP.
  8. Any other task assigned by PM.

Core competencies:

  1. Must have 2 years' experience inrights based organization preferably at Federal Level.
  2. Command on Computer skills mostly MS. Word, MS Excel, power point, email, internet, active in handling  social media
  3. Work independently with minimal supervision 
  4. English and Nepali typing skills are a must.
  5. Written and oral skills in Nepali and English.

Education: +2 in Law or Mass Communication and Journalism or other related field (Bachelors preferred)

Experience: At least 1 year of working experience inrights organizations.

Line management

The above mentioned jobholders will report to the Program Manager and be line managed primarily by the Program Manager and then by the General Secretary of the Executive Board.
