About Shangri-la Orphanage Home (SOH)
Shangri-La Orphanage Home (SOH) is a national-level non-governmental organization established in the year 2055 B.S. (1998 A.D.). It has been operating with financial and technical support from Govinda Association (GA), Germany.
The organization was founded with the primary objective of providing shelter to orphaned and needy children and contributing to their overall development. It initially began by renting a small house in Tilganga, Kathmandu, where it accommodated five orphaned and needy children. Over the time, it expanded its operations, relocating from Bagdol, Lalitpur, to Godavari-10, Neupanegaun, Lalitpur, where it has now established with its office in own building and continues to implement various projects.
The organization runs child-focused programs such as an orphanage home, scholarship project, vocational training centers, and youth reintegration project. The main objective of this organization is to provide support to orphaned, needy and vulnerable children and contribute as much as possible to their holistic development.
Mission
The primary mission of Shangri-La Orphanage Home (SOH) is to improve the living standards of orphaned and needy children by providing formal education, vocational training, healthcare, and child-centered initiatives.

The goal of Shangri-La Orphanage Home (SOH) aims to provide a safe, nurturing home and holistic development opportunities for Orphan and needy children in Nepal, ensuring their access to education, healthcare, and life skills to become self-reliant, empowered individuals.
Job Summary:
The Program Director will provide strategic leadership, technical guidance, and overall management of all programmatic portfolios of the organization. S/he will ensure high-quality implementation, monitoring, reporting, partnership engagement, and compliance with donor, concerned stakeholder and organizational standards. The Program Director plays a key role in program design, resource mobilization, and capacity building of program teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead the development and review of program strategies, annual plans, and organizational priorities.
- Ensure alignment of programs with organizational mission, goals, and government compliances.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging arising issues, innovations, and best practices.
2. Program Design & Development
- Lead proposal writing, concept note development, and find other funding sources.
- Ensure program models are evidence-based, scalable, and sustainable.
- Strengthen partnerships with government, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate with ward, municipality, DAO, NCRC and SWC for the effective implementation of the projects.
3. Program Management & Quality Assurance
- Oversee planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all programs.
- Ensure timely delivery of activities and achievement of results.
- Review reports, budgets, and compliance documents before submission to donors.
- Ensure safeguarding, gender equality, accountability, and do-no-harm principles in all interventions.
- Monitor the internal control mechanism to maintain transparency and quality.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Reporting
- Oversee all the project design and execution, and provide necessary feedback to project focal persons.
- Ensure regular field monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and learning documentation.
- Develop high-quality program reports for donors, board, and stakeholders.
6. Finance, Admin & Compliance
- Ensure program budgets are realistic, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational guidelines.
- Monitor expenditure, variance analysis, compliance, procurement, and risk management.
- Support the finance and admin teams in ensuring adherence to policies and national laws.
Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the NGO/INGO sector, including 3+ years in senior management roles.
- Proven experience in program design, proposal writing, and donor reporting.
- Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and staff management skills.
- Excellent communication, representation, and partnership-building abilities with team, stakeholders and donor.
- Previous experience working in Child setting, social welfare or related fields, with a focus on child and youth rights, Child protection system, or child welfare services is value added.
- Knowledge of national and international child protection laws, Human rights, policies and frameworks, including the convention on the Rights of the child (CRC)
- Ability to work effective in challenging and sensitive environments, with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for confidentiality.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
- Commitment to promoting child rights, gender equality and social inclusion.

Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary scale for deserving candidate as per the organization’s rule, SSF, Dashain allowance, communication andtwo wheelerwith fuel will be provided.
Note: Genuine passion for working with children and youth. Willingness to travel and work in odd hours when required. Two wheeler’s valid license is mandatory. For the above-mentioned position, candidate must be a Nepali citizen who is 35 to 50 years of age.
