Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level NGO working for women's human rights and to ensure women empowerment with feminist value through protection and promotion of human rights and social justice focusing on campaigns- against violence against women, and women's economic, social and cultural rights nation-wide. We currently work in 19 districts with district offices in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Siraha, Dhanusha, Dang, Kailali, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rukum, Kapilvastu, Rupandehiand, Surkhet with Central Office in Lalitpur. WOREC is currently looking for candidates to fulfill the following positions:

Position Description

Position: Program Director-1

The Program Director is mainly responsible to oversee the combined effects of programs of WOREC and programs under VAW, ESCR and Human Rights & Social Justice campaigns along with holistic engagement and comprehensive capacity development of W/HRDs. Program and its activity planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting, documenting and coordination with field and other field level various stakeholders of organizations are the major responsibilities of PD. PD also oversees the fund raising and program operation and development, assist ED for overall operation including administrative, logistics and procurement operation of the organization and in proposal writing and tracking of specific and short-term projects, contracts, consultancies and M&E at different districts. PD works closely with and under the direct supervision of ED, also in close coordination with Program Managers, Finance and Admin Departments, Coordinators of Kathmandu office and District Coordinators, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager/Officers of the concerned programs and other field staffs in achieving the goal and objectives of WOREC.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take team leadership and oversees all operation of all the programs and campaigns. Take regular updates from district offices of the ongoing operations of program activities and coordinate the organizations working with w/hrds and guide them through in managing both the program and the operations smoothly.
  • Ensure the control, oversight and systematic operation system of the programs are functionally well and adheres the organization's finance, administrative and HR policies.  
  • Monitor progress and ensure quality by tracking program implementation and reporting on timely basis and making necessary adjustments to ensure the successful completion of the respective project.
  • Ensures that all campaigns and programs of the organization focusing on gender equality, human rights and social justice are well connected with the organization's vision, mission, goals and objectives and that the issues that come from the community are well linked with programs and campaigns.
  • Make annual, half yearly, quarterly and monthly plan of program, implement activities effectively in order to achieve expected outcomes, document adequately and properly, and ensure timely reporting to donors.
  • Ensure that for all implemented activities, evidences/reports are documented at central level as well as district level.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities under the supervision of Executive Director. Engage in preparation of analytical program operation reports and submit it to Executive Director. 
  • Organize and manage training, workshop conferences/seminar and interaction programs in coordination with different national and international partners. 
  • Develop the annual budget and operation plan to support the programs.
  • Responsible to oversee program of comprehensive capacity development of women/human rights defenders, fund raising and resources generation for organization development and training centres of WOREC. 
  • Develop and implement the campaign from feminist approach and women's human rights perspective considering the project documents as well as WOREC's vision and mission.
  • Make field plans and carry out supervision and monitoring visits and provide technical inputs and required support to district management for successful completion of program/projects in all districts.
  • Strengthen and maintain relationship with various resource persons, stakeholders and governments, non- government organizations and various networks.

Education Qualification and Skills 

  1. Master’s or M.Phil. in Social Sciences - Economics, Rural Development, Public Administration, Law, or related field with good understanding of development sector, right based approach, human rights concepts and mechanism. 
  2. At least five years of experience in leadership position.
  3. Have methodical and strategic thinking.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Fund raising and project management skills.
  6. Excellent organizational skills.
  7. Computer literacy. 
  8. Adequate knowledge of administrative, procurement and contract management process.  
  9. Knowledge of working with government, UN Agencies and/or other donor agencies.
  10. Strong writing skills in English and Nepali languages.
