The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following position based in Kathmandu Nepal

Position Title: On Call Care Taker 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the overall supervision of the International Migration Health Physician, Kathmandu and direct supervision of Chief Head Nurse, with the guidance from the Chief Migration Health Physician for technical matters and the Chief of Mission, Nepal for administrative matters, the successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Major Duties And Responsibilities:

  • To take care of the refugee who is alone with no family support at transit center, like a family member, upon request from TC staff, on part time basis.
  • To meet the refugee in transit center and accompany him/her to the hospital and stay with the refugee through -out the period of hospitalization.
  • To assist and support the refugee to take care of his/her needs while in hospital by all means like fetching food from canteen, to  co-ordinate with hospital staff to fulfill the requirements of the refugee like getting appropriate medicine, and other needs like clothing , water supply and basic personal care etc.
  • To assist the refugee in report collection and accompany him/her during the investigation process to relevant department and remain with the refugee until the work is over. and bring him/her  back to ward. Also to assist in collecting discharge summary reports. 
  • To report the progress of the patient including the admin related needs to the nurse in TC and also to the TC physician and admin staff based on the subject.

  • To obey the request to travel to Damak to accompany the refugee if needed.
  • Follow the standard IOM policy on medical confidentiality
  • Any other related work that is allotted by the supervisor

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High school education with previous experience in social work. Higher education in social work background is an asset but not mandatory.
  • A person with compassionate approach is mandatory.
