Sahara Nepal is nongovernment organization (NGO)registered in accordance with the Section (4) of the Organization Registration Act 2034 BS and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council in accordance with the Section (13) of the Social Welfare Act 2049 BS of the Government of Nepal in 2051 BS (1994 AD). Sahara Nepal is autonomous and not profit making non-governmental organization groomed from grass root level and led by young, dynamic and result oriented development professionals. Sahara Nepal works along with the poor and marginalized people living at the bottom of the society, since 1994. Sahara Nepal focuses on livelihood, public health, empowerment, environment and energy, good governance, and humanitarian service. The target beneficiaries are women, indigenous people, children, marginal farmer, daily wage laborer and needy people. SAHARA-Nepal directly works with them and strives to strengthen their capacity to reduce socio-economic, cultural and political vulnerabilities. Sahara Nepal with the technical support of Habitat for Humanity Nepal and with the fund support of Jersey Overseas (JOA) is implementing a project— ‘HOMES’ Nepal: Housing Opportunities and Microfinance Empowerment Solutions. The prime objective of this project isimproving financial security, housing adequacy, and economic prosperity for low-income families, particularly women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups. The project will address critical challenges faced by low-income families—including inadequate housing, financial exclusion, and climate vulnerabilities—by enhancing access to appropriate and affordable financial products such as housing microfinance (HMF) loans, home green energy (HGE) loans, and housing microinsurance (HMI). The project will be implemented in five districts across east Nepal: Sunsari and Udayapur in Koshi Province, and Siraha, Saptari, and Dhanusha in Madhesh province.
