ABOUT CREASION
Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal (CREASION) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2005. Since it was founded, CREASION has been a leader in environmental protection in Nepal through recycling, research, emergency response, grassroots and circular economy related interventions. CREASION also houses innovative, impact-based projects as well as a learning center for youth. The organization is centered around three thematic areas: Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, and Emergency Disaster Response. As CREASION continues to strengthen its systems, programs, and financial management, we are looking for a committed and detail-oriented Finance Associate to join our Finance Team.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Finance Associate will support the day-to-day financial operations of CREASION by maintaining accurate financial records, processing and documenting transactions, supporting reconciliations and financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable statutory provisions.
The position requires strong attention to detail, integrity, accountability, and the ability to work effectively with program, operations, procurement, and management teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accounting and Financial Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.
- Record financial transactions in accounting software and ensure proper coding and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized vouchers, bills, invoices, receipts, advances, and other financial records.
- Support monthly and periodic financial closing processes.
2. Bank, Cash and Reconciliation
- Prepare regular bank and cash reconciliations and identify and follow up on outstanding items.
- Maintain records of staff advances, settlements, and outstanding balances.
- Support monitoring of cash flow and ensure timely documentation of financial transactions.
- Assist in identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies.
3. Payments and Procurement Support
- Review payment requests and supporting documents for completeness and compliance before processing.
- Coordinate with procurement and program teams to ensure financial documentation is complete.
- Support timely payment processing in accordance with delegated authority and internal controls.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.
4. Project Finance and Budget Monitoring
- Support project teams in budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
- Assist in preparing project-wise financial reports and budget utilization updates.
- Review expenditures against approved budgets and flag significant variances or potential issues.
- Support donor-funded project financial documentation and reporting requirements.
5. Compliance and Audit
- Ensure financial transactions comply with CREASION policies, donor requirements, tax provisions, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Support preparation for internal and external audits.
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and respond to requests for supporting documents.
- Assist in implementing recommendations arising from audits and internal reviews.
6. Financial Reporting and Coordination
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Provide timely financial information to the Finance Manager and relevant management/program teams.
- Coordinate effectively with Finance, Administration, Procurement, HR, and Program teams.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in finance and accounting.
- Experience working with an NGO/INGO, development organization, or project-based organization will be an advantage.
- Experience with donor-funded projects and financial reporting will be preferred.
- Practical knowledge of Tally or other accounting software.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and financial documentation.
- Understanding of bank reconciliation, taxation, budgeting, payment processing, and audit requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
