Expression of Interest

KOSHISH is planning to carry out following tasks as part of the project ‘Strengthening the resilience of marginalized communities in the Nuwakot district of Nepal’ and requests for submission of expression of interest from separate entities on each of these tasks. The tasks are: i) Develop a documentary for suicide prevention and ii) Prepare and perform 6 street dramas at the Federal, Province and Local Level. Therefore, we invite interested and qualified candidates, meeting the specified requirement to submit sealed quotation along with required documents as mentioned below to undertake this assignment.

Project background:

"Strengthening the resilience of marginalised communities in the Nuwakot district of Nepal” is a three-and-a-half-year project implemented by KOSHISH, to strengthening the resilience of earthquake affected communities in Nuwakot district in Nepal project in partnership with Malteser International. Implementation of the project commenced from July 1, 2020 in five wards of Panchakanya Rural Municipality targeting persons affected by earthquake of 2015 and other disasters that are at the risk of psychosocial distress. The project aims to ensure universal health coverage for people living with mental health conditions and psychosocial disability through accessible community based mental health services in Panchakanya Rural Municipality. It will contribute toward the establishment of an inclusive society in Nepal where persons with mental health conditions and psychosocial issues are able to lead dignified independent lives and are included in their communities as equals. It also directly contributes to ensure rights of persons with and who are at risk of mental health conditions and psychosocial disability as mentioned in Rights of Persons with Disability Act (2017) and Public Health Policy 2075.

Objectives for development of documentary on Suicide Prevention:

  • To address myths and realities surrounding suicide, stigma and discrimination, root causes of suicide and the need of multisectoral collaboration for suicide prevention
  • To use it as a tool to inform, educate and aware general population on suicide and how everyone has a role in suicide prevention
  • To use it as a tool for advocacy in sensitizing duty bearers for their enhanced role in reducing suicide and commitment towards SDG goals.

Objectives for development and performance of Street Drama

  • To address myths and realities surrounding mental health in the communities through impactful messages and character play through street drama
  • To use it as a tool to inform, educate and aware general population for raising awareness on mental health and promoting support for and inclusion of persons with mental health condition in the communities.
  • To use it as a tool for advocacy in sensitizing duty bearers for the need to prioritize prevention, promotion, treatment and rehabilitation components of mental health.

Expression of Interest Submission:

Interested companies are requested to submit the following information:

  1. Cover letter expressing interest in the task and highlighting relevant experiences in organizing similar assignments in the past
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)/ Company profile outlining similar experiences 
  3. Proposed methodology, tentative script and approach to carry out the tasks and timeline
  4. A Sample of previous work
  5. Budget estimation including breakdowns

Experience required:

  • Bachelors degree in film making, journalism, theater/ plays/ performance  or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in development of documentary/street drama
  • Previous experience of developing documentary/ plays in mental health
  • Proficiency on report writing in both Nepali and English language 
  • Readiness to adhere to the ethical principles working with person with mental health and psychosocial disability
  • Ready to travel to the identified project areas as per the need of the assignment
  • Open for team work
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and have aptitude to work in the field of mental health and receive feedback

Timeline:

The timeline for these assignment is from 20th November 2023 to 24th December 2023. The consultants will need to work closely with KOSHISH to ensure timely completion of deliverables and incorporate input/feedback at each stage of the assignment.

Interested candidates/firms can submit sealed quotations at KOSHISH central office Kusunti -14, Ranibu Lalitpur. They may submit application for one or both the assignment as relevant but should mention in the subject itself on which task they are applying for. But each application should include complete documents comprising of organizational profile/CV, financial and technical proposal along with sample report/material of a similar assignment in the past.

Submission Deadline:

Application must be submitted in the form of sealed quotation no later than 18.11.2023. Late submissions will not be considered. KOSHISH reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications without assigning any reason whatsoever.

Note: A detailed Terms of Reference (TOR) document will be provided to shortlisted consultants, outlining the project's scope, deliverables, and other relevant information.
