Details / requirements:

Expression of Interest (EOI)

For Production of a Documentary Video on Parents Self-Help Group (PSHG), Kathmandu

1. Background

The Parent Federation of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PFPID), Nepal, is a national umbrella organization working to promote and protect the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families. As part of its efforts to strengthen family support systems and community inclusion, PFPID-Nepal has been supporting the formation and growth of Parents Self-Help Groups (PSHGs).

One such Parents Self-Help Group in Kathmandu has been actively functioning for the past three years. The group consists of parents of persons with intellectual disabilities who voluntarily come together to share experiences, provide mutual support, discuss challenges, celebrate achievements and learn from one another.

Unlike formal support groups, this PSHG operates independently without a designated facilitator. The group is built on trust, peer support and collective ownership. Members regularly organize socialization activities such as visits to parks, museums, picnics and other recreational outings, creating opportunities for friendship, emotional well-being and social inclusion for both parents and their family members.

PFPID-Nepal intends to develop a documentary video that captures the journey, experiences, impact and significance of this Parents Self-Help Group.
