Background:
Howard Delafield International, LLP (HDI) is a behavioral insights consultancy working around the globe and driving innovation to impact lives positively. We have built a direct-to-consumer digital platform for mobile games using discovery and play to empower young people to become active decision-makers in their own lives. We are part of a USAID award for an Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) project led by CARE in Nepal. HDI will create a youth-centric portal with multiple channels to reach adolescents to address agency and self-efficacy for the adoption of healthy behaviors and to facilitate adolescents and reproductive empowerment.
We are looking for an agency or firm specializing in human-centered design, user research, co-design and prototype testing of the digital products developed for adolescents relating to their reproductive health. Testing sessions will be conducted primarily with adolescent girls 15-19 in the ARH working districts under Madhesh, Lumbini and Karnali Provinces.
Scope of Work:
- Develop testing protocols, moderator guides, and movement plans to ensure smooth coordination of prototyping activities.
- Design tools and session protocol to effectively test various materials like storyboards, concept artwork, story plots, messages/scripts, digital game prototypes, brand names, logos, taglines, IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) material, and videos.
- Collaborate with design teams to develop appropriate prototypes and scripts, so that relevant and valuable feedback may be collected from participants.
- Facilitate co-design and testing sessions with adolescents and occasionally other stakeholders (parents, teachers).
- Analyze qualitative data collected during testing and synthesize findings to generate actionable insights and design recommendations.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to articulate and share findings with internal teams and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate testing plans between designers, field personnel, local dialect translators and partner staff, as well as project managers.
- Advocate for the value of user-centered design principles.
- Document and present research findings and recommendations in both Nepali and English.
Timeline:
This scope of work will start from January 15, 2024 and ends by September 30, 2025 (extendable as required with mutual consent).
Expected Deliverables:
- Plan and methods protocol documentation.
- Approximately twelve (12) Design Testing Sessions to be facilitated with recommendation reports delivered after every session.
- Each session, from planning to reporting, is expected to take approximately 5-6 weeks.
Eligibility Criteria:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in user research, concept testing, and co-design.
- Proficiency with digital design and prototyping for field testing digital material.
- Expertise with analysis of qualitative research data and reporting on user testing insights.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to convert insights into actionable recommendations.
- Experience working with adolescents, preferred.
- Confidence to articulate insights and recommendations, even when they are not immediately apparent or may be ambiguous.
- Familiarity with an agile and iterative work environment to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation based on research insights.
- Young, female candidates are preferred for facilitating design sessions on the ground.
- A driven, friendly, and positive demeanor combined with a collaborative approach.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
