Consultancy: Development, Update, and Branding of IEC/SBC Materials for the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition Project

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

Duration: 20 days for a duration of 2 months (with possibility of adjustment based on project needs)

Helen Keller Intl Nepal is seeking a qualified individual consultant or consulting firm to support the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition project by developing, updating, and branding high-quality Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials; strengthening social and behavior change (SBC) strategies; and supporting project visibility through documentation and communication products.

Position Overview

The consultant will lead the design, refinement, and standardization of communication materials aimed at improving nutrition behaviors among women, caregivers, and families. This includes updating existing IEC materials, designing content for digital tools such as Mero Poshan Sathi, developing Family Dialogue modules, supporting development of ultra-processed foods related SBC materials, and contributing to project visibility documentation.

The consultancy requires a creative professional with strong technical grounding in nutrition-focused SBC, communication design, and development-sector branding.

Key Responsibilities

1. Update and Branding of IEC Materials

  • Review and update existing IEC materials to ensure cultural relevance, technical accuracy, and alignment with project goals.
  • Ensure all materials adhere to Helen Keller Intl and donor branding guidelines.
  • Redesign or package materials into print-ready and digital formats as needed.

2. Design of Digital Content for Mero Poshan Sathi

  • Develop user-friendly, engaging content tailored for digital/mobile learning.
  • Prepare scripts, storyboards, infographics, and graphic elements for digital dissemination.
  • Ensure materials are behavior-focused, easy to navigate, and audience-appropriate.

3. Development of Family Dialogue Modules

  • Design facilitator guides, visual tools, and participatory aids for Family Dialogue sessions on nutrition.
  • Translate technical topics into simple, engaging community learning materials.

4. SBC Materials on Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs)

  • Support the development of IEC/BCC materials addressing consumption of UPFs among women and children.
  • Assist in refining key messages and visual narratives promoting healthier behaviors.

5. Documentation and Visibility

  • Contribute to the development of project visibility materials, success stories, and communication assets.
  • Assist in organizing and packaging visual documentation aligned with organizational branding.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Health, Nutrition, Graphic Design, Development Studies, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IEC/BCC development, SBC strategy design, or communication for development.
  • Proven expertise in graphic design, illustration, and digital content creation.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition-related SBC and community-level programming.
  • Familiarity with NGO branding standards and donor communication requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.

Deliverables

  • Updated, branded IEC materials (design files and print/digital versions).
  • Content package for Mero Poshan Sathi (visuals, scripts, storyboards, infographics).
  • Family Dialogue modules including facilitator guides and visual aids.
  • IEC/BCC materials addressing ultra-processed food consumption.
  • Documentation and visibility outputs (stories, visuals, briefs).
  • Final completion report summarizing activities and recommendations.
