The Good Shepherd International Foundation ONLUS (GSIF) is an Italian not-for-profit organization based and registered in Rome, created in 2008 by the Good Shepherd sisters to support their missions in the developing countries. GSIF works with the GS sisters and its partners in different countries by supporting the management of their projects. The GSIF supports programs run by Good Shepherd Sisters and its partners that strive to protect and promote human rights for these people, to create the conditions for economic justice within society, and to change unjust systems. 

GSIF Nepal, the branch office of GSIF, is a non-profit non-governmental organization for development cooperation that works to support children, women, and local communities in the fight against poverty and inequalities and promotes sustainable development. GSIF Nepal works on initiatives that eradicate poverty through sustainable economic development driven by women; provides services to protect and empower the human rights of women and children and contributes to building inclusive communities.

GSIF Nepal is looking for a suitable candidate for the following position based in its office at Pulchowk, Lalitpur Nepal.

Position: Communication and Documentation Assistant

Location: Pulchowk, Lalitpur 

Hours: Full-time 

Reports to: Program Director, GSIF Nepal

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Travel: Occasional travel to project sites

Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension based on the performance

Job purpose:

According to the Values and Mission of GSIF, the Communication and Documentation Assistant contributes to maximizing the effectiveness and social impact of GSIF by:

  • Ensuring timely preparation of quarterly, bi-annual, and annual reports of the projects implemented by GSIF Nepal. 
  • Creating and handling social media accounts of GSIF Nepal for wider visibility. 
  • Support the management team in communications, visibility, and knowledge management.

Key Result areas and activities/responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the implementing partners (in Nepal and India), regional office and head office of GSIF Nepal and prepare the reports following the requirements of donors and the government. 
  • Support the management team in drafting concept notes, proposals and campaign reports. 
  • Develop booklet on success stories, infographic reports, and impact reports. 
  • Ensure data management on the progress achieved through different implementing partners and across different thematic areas. 
  • Proper documentation of the communication materials and knowledge products. 
  • Develop a proper communication strategy and tools for the projects.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the management team of GSIF Nepal. 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication or Journalism or English and 1+ years of experience
  • Understanding of the NGO sector in Nepal.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Well-versed in electronic publishing and graphic methods
  • Capable of reporting, documentation, publication, and audio-visual material preparation will be an asset. 
  • Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation tools is preferable.
