Social Behavior Change Campaign Challenge Grant

RFA No: RFA-KarnaliWaterActivity-23-002

USAID Karnali Water Activity supports the Government of Nepal in creating healthy, water-secure communities through sustainable drinking water access, fecal sludge management, agriculture water management, and conservation. Improved water resource management at the watershed level supports resilient, biodiverse ecosystems. The activity employs an inclusive process to engage local governments and communities, creating a prioritized drinking water infrastructure list based on geography. At each site, water users and sanitation committees plan, construct, and manage water systems with the assistance of USAID's technical support. Surplus water enables additional economic activities such as agriculture and livestock rearing, contributing to community resilience and investment sustainability.

USAID Karnali Water Activity is accepting applications from eligible Nepali civil society organizations, NGOs, academic institutions, other non-profit enterprises, and private companies willing to forego profit who are interested and qualified for the Social Behavior Change Campaign Challenge Grant. The USAID Karnali Water Activity seeks promising and innovative concepts, ideas and approaches to promote water saving, conservation, and Dignified Menstrual Hygiene Management (DMHM) practices in selected communities. The SBC Campaign Challenge will award one grant of NPR 1,500,000 each to eligible organizations and implement the winning concepts over the next 12 months in the geographic focus areas of the Karnali Water Activity (29 municipalities in the Rara Khatyad, Tila, Middle Karnali and Lower Karnali watersheds).

The overall objective of the SBC Challenge Grant is to identify innovative and scalable behavior change ideas as part of the USAID Karnali Water Activity’s SBC campaign, which includes a community participatory approach (community people and local stakeholders) covering 150+ households from three different settlements from the priority LGs from Middle Karnali, Tila and Rara Watershed.

Additional details about key priority topics, selection process and evaluation criteria, and standard templates for the technical application and cost budget are available in the full RFA.
