Call for Application for Irrigation Technician (Full time consultant)

Heifer Project International Nepal (HPIN) is a non-profit organization working in Nepal since 1998 with the aim of ending hunger and poverty and caring for the earth through agriculture-based livelihood and market system development programs. HPIN invites application from eligible Nepali citizens for the following position.

Position: Irrigation Technician (Full time consultant) : 4 Nos

Term: 6 months with possibility of extension.

Station: Palpa, Chitwan, Janakpur, Dang

Major Roles and Responsibility

The full-time field-based consultants will be responsible for implementing and overseeing all irrigation-related activities in the designated clusters, either directly or in coordination with cluster teams and project partners. They will ensure compliance with the rules, regulations, internal policies of HPIN, and the prevailing Nepalese laws and regulations. Additionally, they will oversee and approve design and cost estimates, ensuring the proper implementation and use of irrigation schemes.

Qualifications and Requirement:

Education: Intermediate degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of field experience in conducting feasibility studies, designing, monitoring, and reporting on various community-managed irrigation systems.
• Experience in working closely with rural communities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with design software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work, travel, and live in challenging conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Valid two-wheeler driving license.
• Must be a Nepali citizen.
