LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

“Empowering women and community-based organizations of Western Mountain for a resilient local food system (EMPOWER)” funded by BMZ with support from Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V. (WHH) from January 2026 to June 2029. The project aims to empowered women small-holders, marginalized communities and civil society actors strengthen resilient local food systems. Specifically, women smallholders and youth from targeted municipalities adopt agroecology-based farming practices and civil society actors and local authorities promote agroecological principles and practices to enhance local agro-biodiversity and strengthen food, nutrition and income security.
Similarly, LI-BIRD is also implementing a project entitled “Empowered communities and CSOs for inclusive nutrition governance in the hilly and mountain regions of Western Nepal (Better Nutrition)” funded by EU from January 2025 to June 2028. The project aims to strengthen sustainable and inclusive nutrition governance through an effective implementation of the Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan III.
LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions.
1. Project Coordinator (Level 8) - (1): To be based at Kolti, Bajura
Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for overall field implementation of the project in Budhinanda Municipality, Bajura and technical support to KCDC and strategic programs in Mugu as well and also providing technical support to the local governments in formulating and strengthening/revising policies, support CBOs and networks in facilitating linkages and coordination and their capacity building on influencing and participatory program planning. PC will also be responsible for generating the project report.
Education and Experience: Master’s in agriculture with 3 years of work experience in the agriculture and livelihood sector. Candidates with valid motorbike/scooter license and work experience in the implementation and reporting of projects are encouraged to apply.
2. Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer (Level 7) - (1): To be based at Kolti, Bajura
Job Summary: Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer will be responsible to lead efforts to empower civil society actors and their networks to advocate for and promote agroecology-based approaches that enhance agrobiodiversity and strengthen local food systems at the municipal and provincial levels. The Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer will be responsible to enhance the capacity of local governments to harmonize, localize, and implement policies related to the right to food and local food systems and guide and support capacity development efforts for partner organizations, including KCDC and contribute to project planning and implementation. The role will also guide and support capacity development efforts for partner organizations, including KCDC, and contribute to project planning and implementation. In addition, the Officer will facilitate the mobilization and capacity strengthening of Civil Society Actors (CSAs) and the Women Advocacy Network (WAN) to advance inclusive and sustainable food system governance.
Education and Experience: Master's degree in agriculture with two years of relevant experience in livelihood sector with focus on nutrition-sensitive or agroecological agriculture or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture with four years of relevant experience. Proven experience in community capacity building, advocacy, agrobiodiversity conservation, and nutrition-agriculture integration.
3. Agriculture Officer (Level 6) - (1): To be based at Kolti, Bajura
Job Summary: Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Agriculture Officer (AO) will support the implementation of field level activities, monitoring, and documentation of the project. The AO’s key duties include field level project planning, implementation and monitoring and quality control; capacity building of project beneficiaries; data management, synthesis and report writing, and technical backstopping of field staff. The AO should ensure the project is being implemented as per the project’s overall project goal, objectives, and outcomes. The AO is also required to coordinate with the local governments and district line agencies and other key stakeholders in planning and implementation of the project to ensure adequate program synergies, resource leveraging and scaling up potential innovations.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field with at least three years of relevant experience in nutrition-sensitive or agroecological agriculture. Proven experience in community capacity building, agrobiodiversity conservation, and nutrition-agriculture integration.
4. Admin and Finance Associate (Level 5 ) - (1): To be based at Kolti, Bajura and responsible for both EMPOWER and Bett Nutrition Project
Job Summary: Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Admin and Finance Associate will be responsible for account keeping of two projects. S/he will also support project teams in administration, procurement, and logistics management. S/he will coordinate with relevant staff to ensure accounting and documentation of all financial transactions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in commerce/management, with two years of relevant work experience or 10+2 in management with four years' experience in relevant field. Residents of Bajura and nearby districts are preferred and are encouraged to apply.
