Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) is a not-for-profit civic tech company that works at the intersection of emerging cutting-edge technological tools and their applications by equipping young professionals to solve emerging challenges in our community. 1. Backend Developer (Django, DRF, GIS)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Django, Django REST Framework (DRF), and GeoDjango.
• Proficient with Python scripting and libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.).
• Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and Redis.
• Experience with Celery for task queues.
• Docker & Docker Compose expertise.
• CI/CD pipeline knowledge (GitLab preferred).
• Ubuntu/Linux Server (Nginx, Bash, Certbot, Systemd).
• GIS Tools: GeoServer, QGIS, and geospatial data concepts.
• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and multiple architectures.
• Strong debugging, testing, and system optimization skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design scalable backend architecture and databases for civic tech solutions.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate geospatial services.
• Mentor junior developers and ensure code quality through reviews and best practices.
• Lead performance and security audits, scaling strategies, and deployment.
• Integrate third-party services, APIs, and open data platforms.
• Collaborate with front-end and GIS teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Oversee CI/CD, Docker containerization, and server deployments.
• Ensure high code maintainability, test coverage, and automated testing.

2. Frontend Developer (React)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field;
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with React.js;
• Deep understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS;
• Experience with modern state management libraries (Redux, Context API);
• Familiar with RESTful APIs and backend integration;
• Experience in front-end build tools and package managers (Webpack, NPM, etc.);
• Familiarity with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3, Leaflet, Chart.js);
• Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, and UI/UX standards;
• Experience in test-driven development (Jest, React Testing Library);
• Strong communication and documentation skills;
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead front-end development for scalable and interactive civic platforms.
• Translate design mockups into clean, functional React components.
• Collaborate closely with backend and GIS teams to integrate APIs.
• Ensure accessibility, performance, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Build reusable code and front-end libraries.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote front-end standards.
• Implement data-driven UIs using APIs and mapping tools.

3. Senior Full Stack Developer (Django + React + DevOps)

Required Qualifications

• 4–6 years of professional experience in Django + Django REST Framework and React.js;
• Strong command of both backend and frontend development;
• Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Redis, and Celery;
• Skilled in Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux server operations;
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.) and services (EC2, S3, RDS);
• Experience with Nginx, Bash, SSL setup (Certbot), and performance tuning;
• GitLab/GitHub workflows and automated deployments;
• Excellent troubleshooting, architectural design, and documentation skills;
• Strong grasp of GIS tools, API integrations, and user-centered design;
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack project lifecycle from design to deployment.
• Architect and implement end-to-end applications using Django + React.
• Build scalable APIs and dynamic front-end interfaces.
• Oversee DevOps pipelines, containerization, and server management.
• Collaborate across teams (GIS, data, frontend, policy) for co-creation.
• Maintain secure, optimized, and highly available applications.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence.
• Align technical decisions with YI-Lab’s mission and civic impact goals.

4. GIS Technical (Consultant)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environment Science or related field is required with proven experience in providing technical support for mural development and related geospatial visualization initiatives
• Strong knowledge in using GIS and remote sensing with solid mathematical skills to measure, organize and analyze spatial data
• In-depth knowledge of using spatial data formats, spatial analysis techniques and spatial data management 
• Familiarity with web-based data analysis and visualization platforms, strong understanding of OpenStreetMap (OSM) and its applications 
• Experience in using open data, google earth engine, and geospatial scripting
• Familiarity with climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and anticipatory action 
• Problem-solving skills with attention to details, and 
• Verbal and written communication skills 

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in mapping and spatial analysis through the use of GIS software and other relevant available tools
• Provide technical support for developing mural arts
• Preparation of Geo-database and visualization of data
• Assist Tech-tem in system design and development
• OSM mapping and validation
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as delegated by supervisor

5.Concept Design (Consultant)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years of professional experience in people-centric or community-based design
• Proven experience with mural or public art projects, especially in rural or low-resource settings 
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or equivalent
• Familiarity with user-centered design methodologies and agile collaboration 
• Strong visual storytelling skills 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Passion for social innovation , community empowerment, and inclusive communication 

Key Responsibilities

• Design Development: Develop people-centric visual designs and artwork, with a strong focus on mural art for community spaces; Translate complex ideas into accessible visual formats for public understanding.
• Collaboration: Work closely with YI-Lab’s project and communication teams to co-create mural concepts and visual tools;
• Coordinate with mural artists, community stakeholders, and local governments during implementation. Prototyping and Iteration: Prepare prototypes of mural and design concepts for feedback and validation.
• Learning and Innovation: Stay informed on design trends, public communication techniques, and community art practices; Contribute creative ideas for impactful communication at the intersection of art, data, and local narratives.
