TRAINEESHIP OPPORTUNITY: KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND MONITORING TRAINEE
Helvetas Nepal, through its InElam project, promotes sustainable livelihoods via small enterprise development in Karnali and Madhesh Provinces. The current phase emphasizes green jobs and circular economy principles to support small, environment-friendly enterprises that generate income for women, youth, and marginalized communities.
To enhance our capacity in monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL), and knowledge management (KM), Helvetas Nepal intends to offer a traineeship opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to gain first-hand experience in data collection, analysis, reporting, and knowledge management.
Position: Knowledge Management and Monitoring Trainee – 1 position (For women only)
Purpose:
To provide professional work exposure to recent graduates or current students by giving guided work opportunities under the supervision and guidance of the Knowledge Management and Monitoring Coordinator, allowing hands-on experience in data management, reporting, and knowledge documentation in a development organization.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Information Management, Communications, Statistics, or related discipline. Fresh graduates with no prior job experience are especially encouraged to apply. Willingness for extensive field travel in project areas.
- Strong interest in knowledge management, organizational learning, monitoring & evaluation, and international development/humanitarian work.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Good numerical and analytical skills; comfortable working with data.
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint essential); familiarity with KOBO or design tools like Canva is a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on assigned tasks.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Duration: 6 months
Duty Station: Madhesh Province, Birgunj, with possible field visits as per project requirements.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
The trainee will acquire in-depth knowledge, skills, and experience in knowledge management and monitoring and will assist Knowledge Management and Monitoring Coordinator in:
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and entering program data from field activities.
- Support tracking of project progress against targets using tools such as Excel or other software.
- Prepare data for reports, presentations, and reviews by the Project Coordinator (PC), Knowledge Management Officer (KMO), Team Leader (TL), and Country Office (CO).
- Create charts, graphs, and dashboards to visualize data.
- Conduct field monitoring visits and participate in data collection activities.
- Assist in documenting and archiving key project documents, including reports and success stories.
- Support the upkeep and maintenance of internal knowledge platforms (e.g., SharePoint).
- Assist in drafting knowledge products such as newsletters, blogs, and presentations.
- Support the organization and facilitation of team learning meetings and workshops.
- Maintain a clear and simple digital filing system for project documents.
