Wellness Tourism Video Development

1. BACKGROUND

The UK Nepal – Nepal in Business – Growth Advisors (NiB – GA) programme, launched in July 2024, is a five-year initiative funded by UK International Development and implemented by DAI Global UK. NiB - GA aims to unlock economic prosperity in Nepal by fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), creating new jobs, and driving private sector-led economic growth. NiB consists of two main components:

  • Business Support Facility: Provides technical assistance and investment to SMEs to enhance their productivity, competitiveness, and potential for job creation while making them investment ready in the long run.
  • Business Environment Reform Facility: Engages with government stakeholders and private sector associations to reform business regulations, reduce trade barriers, and improve the overall enabling environment for businesses in Nepal.

2. INTRODUCTION

Wellness tourism in Nepal represents a high potential and emerging tourism segment. With its natural landscapes, historical significance, and healing traditions, Nepal holds immense potential to develop a diverse range of wellness products that can attract international wellness travellers. Nepal is yet to effectively position and market wellness tourism as a wholesome offering to international visitors. To achieve this, NiB and Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), like to develop a high-quality promotional wellness video representing Nepal’s wellness segment among the international travellers. 

3. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The main objective of the assignment is to create a video that features Nepal’s offering in the wellness tourism space with below considerations:

  • Positioning: Establish Nepal’s credibility and authenticity in the global wellness tourism space.
  • Showcase Diversity: Feature diverse offerings (e.g., yoga retreats, meditation monasteries, Ayurvedic treatments, spa/therapeutic practices, etc), traditions and cultures (rituals, crafts, cuisine), and landscapes (mountains, forests, lakes, rural settings).
  • Engagement: Inspire travellers and trade partners with a compelling narrative that connects wellness with place, people, and practice.
  • Usability: Deliver multi-format video assets optimized for web, social, events, and media pitches.

4. SCOPE OF WORK AND DELIVERABLES

The individual consultant/firm will be responsible for following tasks and deliverables:

On‑location filming

Conduct filming of wellness tourism destinations (Bagmati, Lumbini, and Gandaki)

Capture wellness practices, landscapes, and human stories.

Ensure diverse representation (gender, ethnicity, regions), ethical portrayal.


3rd week of contract signing
Post-production

Develop video (first draft) which includes:

Editing, color grading, audio mix; brand‑aligned motion graphics and titles. 

Music selection (licensed; contemplative tone), voiceover recording (if used).

Subtitles and captions (English and Nepali; other languages optional).

Delivery of master and cut‑downs (Main video, teaser, and social clip)

Submit first draft of video5th week of contract signing

Quality Assurance & Handover

Review - collect comments and suggestions from the team

Integrate feedback.

Final video delivery + source files, license documentation, and usage guidelines.

Submit primary promotional video (2 minutes) Cut‑downs, & Social clips with subtitles

Asset Handover – Raw footage and project files, final masters, licensing registry (music, talent), usage guide.

8th week of contract signing

Additional Information:

The video shall be two minutes in length.

The video shall feature wellness products of Lumbini, Gandaki, and Bagmati.

The video shall reflect, but not limited to, yoga, meditation, retreats, traditional healing, culture, nature, holistic lifestyle etc.

Ethical, Cultural & Legal Considerations

  • Respect & Consent: Written consent from featured individuals and sites; no misrepresentation of rituals or practices.
  • Safeguarding: Do No Harm; privacy protections; avoid sensitive content without permission.
  • Permits: Filming permits, drone permissions (CAA Nepal); location releases.
  • Representation: Inclusive, non‑stereotypical portrayal across regions and communities.
  • Environmental: Leave‑no‑trace filming; minimal footprint.

5. QUALIFICATIONS 

The firm/individual must have:

  • Proven experience in promotional video production (preferred: tourism and destination promotion). Preferably 5–7+ years in destination/brand films; portfolio of wellness/nature/culture projects.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of international standard audio-visual work.
  • Strong storytelling—human‑centered narratives and cinematic landscape work.
  • Proficiency in 4K production, drone ops, sound design, color grading, subtitling.
  • Strong creative, story telling, and technical capabilities.
  • Experience delivering multi‑format assets for digital campaigns.

6. PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

The interested service providers (individuals/firms) are invited to submit their interest via technical and budget proposal.

Technical proposal: 

The technical proposal shall comprise of:

  • A two-pager on approach of video development of wellness tourism, concept samples, schedule, team.
  • Experience of expert/s in providing similar services and CVs of the experts.
  • References of past work such as videos, and other products (A relevant Portfolio).
  • Sample script outline & storyboard template.

Financial proposal:

  • The budget with breakdown shall reflect production and post-production costs including crew/experts’ days, gear, travel days, and any other related costs.
  • The budget shall elaborate with the budget notes.

Regulatory requirements:

The firm/individual shall submit the following documents along with their technical and financial proposal:

  • Certificates of registration, VAT clearance and renewal, as applicable for firms
  • PAN certificate for individuals

7. EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS

The proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria-

  • Technical approach – 25%
  • Creative concept & narrative strength – 25%
  • Relevant portfolio & technical capability - Team composition – 20%
  • Feasibility and logistics plan – 15%
  • Budget value and transparency – 15%

8. PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

For queries, the interested party can submit their questions to the email address (procurement_NiB@dai.com) by 28 December, 2025.

The interested companies/individuals can submit the proposal (both technical and financial) via email to procurement_NiB@dai.com by 31 December, 2025.

Only the shortlisted companies will be contacted.

9. WORKING AND REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS

The service provider will work under the supervision of Sector Initiative Expert of Nepal in Business -Growth Advisors.
