S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal/SWN) is a wholly Nepali-owned multidisciplinary research and infrastructure development consulting service provider. Since 2000, SWN has been working with multiple development partners and the Government of Nepal, delivering quality outputs in the design and management of locally and government-led projects and programs. The projects are focused on local organization capacity development strengthening local government capabilities, green resilient infrastructure development, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the projects and programmes.

Project Title: Video Documentary on the Impact of the Girls’ Empowerment and Mainstreaming Sustainably (GEMS) Project
Project Duration: June 7, 2025 – August 31, 2025
1. Background
The GEMS project, implemented by the British Council in collaboration with local partners, aims to empower adolescent girls in Nepal through education, leadership development, and community engagement. This documentary seeks to showcase the transformative impact of GEMS on the lives of these girls and their communities. The project area is Surkhet, Bara, and Rautahat.
Scott Wilson Nepal is conducting the impact evaluation of the GEMS project.
2. Objective
Scott Wilson Nepal invites an experienced videographer to produce a 5–6-minute video documentary on the Impact of the Girls’ Empowerment and Mainstreaming Sustainably (GEMS) Project. The objectives of this video documentary are:
- To highlight the personal journey of an adolescent girl involved in the GEMS project.
- To showcase the broader outcomes and impact of the GEMS project on communities
- To create a compelling narrative that can be used for advocacy, fundraising, and awareness-raising purposes.
3. Scope of Work
The videographer will be responsible for the following tasks
Pre-production:
- Concept development: Collaborate with S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal/SWN) to finalize the documentary concept and storyline.
- Scriptwriting: Develop a detailed script based on the agreed-upon concept.
- Storyboarding: Create a storyboard to visualize the scenes and sequences
- Scheduling: Coordinate with SWN, the British Council and local partners to schedule interviews and filming sessions
Production:
Filming: Capture high-quality video footage, including:
- Interviews with GEMS participants, facilitators, and community members
- B-roll footage of GEMS activities, such as workshops, community meetings and field visits.
- Environment shots of the project areas
Audio recordings: Ensure clear and high-quality audio for all interviews and ambient sounds.
Post-Production:
- Editing: Edit the footage to create a cohesive and engaging 6-minute documentary
- Sound design: Incorporate background music, sound effects, and voiceovers as needed
- Graphics and subtitles: Add titles, captions, and subtitles to enhance accessibility
- Review and revisions: Submit draft to SWN and the British Council for feedback and make necessary revisions.
Deliverable
- 6-minute documentary video in high resolution.
- Raw footage and audio files
- A 30-second teaser/trailer for promotional purposes
- A behind-the-scenes photo gallery
- Signed consent forms for all individuals featured in the documentary
4. Timeline
- Contract signing – June 6, 2025
- Pre-production completion – June 11, 2025
- Production phase – June 12, 2025 – June 22, 2025
- First draft submission – July 5, 2025
- Final delivery – July 15, 2025
5. Payment schedule:
- 30% upon signing the contract
- 40% upon completion of the production phase
- 30% upon final delivery of all materials
6. Equipment and Resources
The videographer will provide all necessary equipment for filming and editing, including:
- Cameras and lenses
- Tripods and stabilizers
- Audio recording devices
- Lighting equipment
- Editing software
7. Ownership and Usage Rights
The British Council will retain full ownership of all video materials produced
The videographer may use the final video for promotional purposes with prior written consent from the British Council
All raw footage and audio files will be handed over to the S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal/SWN) upon completion of the project
8. Confidentiality and Ethical Considerations
- The videographer agrees to maintain confidentiality regarding all project-related information
- All participants featured in the documentary will provide informed consent, and their rights will be respected throughout the production process.
- The videographer will adhere to ethical guidelines and standards in documentary filmmaking
9. Qualification and Expertise
The ideal videographer should have
- At least 5 years of professional experience in documentary filmmaking
- Proven experience in working with marginalized communities
- Proficiency in video editing software, e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro
- Strong storytelling and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Able to travel in June 2025
