Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA) established itself in 1990. In 1994, NNSWA registered with the District Administration Office Kanchanpur and affiliated to Social Welfare Council Kathmandu. NNSWA has grown over the years, implementing various integrated community based development programs in Far Western Region being one of the leading development organizations in the Sudur Paschim Province of Nepal. NNSWA has 107 General Members who constitute the General Assembly of NNSWA. 11 members of this General Assembly constitute an Executive Committee. Executive Members are elected by the General assembly for a term of 5 years. The Executive Committee has 6 Office Bearers (President, Vice-president, General Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-treasurer) and 5 Executive Members. 40% of General Assembly and Executive Committee members are female. NNSWA has its district chapters at Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula districts and other district NNSWA helping committee are existed and providing services in all 9 districts within the Sudur Paschim Province, Nepal. The Executive Committee is the legally constituted body responsible for providing strategic and policy direction to the organization. NNSWA has its own office building having sufficient rooms and training hall at Bheemdatt Municipality-18 in Kanchanpur district.

NNSWA has been actively working with various community development projects in Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal for more than three decades. It has significant years of experience working in the sector of DRRM/CCA and humanitarian response, Education, Health, Livelihoods, HIV and AIDS, Nutrition, Physical Rehabilitation Services for the People with Disability along, Stop Leprosy with other development sectors and has been closely working with different funding partners and all level of the government. NNSWA is going to implement Strengthening Anticipatory Action in Nepal (SAAN) project in Punarbas Municipality, Laljhadi Rural Municipality in Kanchanpur and Bhajani Municipality, Chure Rural Municipality in Kailali in partnership with Mercy Corps Nepal. Therefore, NNSWA announces the vacancy for applying for the following positions.

1. Position: Information Management Officer

Required No. (2) Two

Base Station: Punarbas Municipality, Kanchanpur-1 and Chure Rural Municipality, Kailali-1

1.1 GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Information Management Officer (IMO), based in local level (Punarbas and Chure), will technically support management of data systems, and anticipatory action initiatives under the project. This role ensures accurate data collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting to inform decision-making, enhance Anticipatory Action systems, and strengthen disaster preparedness within the local level.

2. Required Qualifications and experience: 

a. Academic Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Geography, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in GIS, Data Analysis, or similar technical fields
  • Minimum 3 years in information management, data analysis, or GIS roles within humanitarian/development sectors
  • Experience in disaster risk management, anticipatory action, or early warning systems
  • Familiarity with weather forecasting systems and their application in disaster contexts
  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or UN bodies

b. Sector Knowledge, Skills & competency:

  • Maintain robust information management systems for disaster risk data.
  • Manage databases to store, process, and analyze spatial (GIS) and non-spatial data.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility for stakeholders.
  • Utilize GIS/QGIS and OpenStreetMap (OSM) to create risk maps, vulnerability assessments, and resource allocation plans.
  • Conduct spatial analysis to identify high-risk areas and prioritize anticipatory interventions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data systems with anticipatory action frameworks and early warning systems.
  • Analyze weather forecasting data to support trigger preemptive responses.
  • Share insights with local level, NGOs, and communities to guide preparedness activities.
  • Train municipal staff and partners on data collection tools, GIS applications, and information management protocols.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned for knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise with meteorological agencies, disaster management committees, and humanitarian partners to ensure data coherence.
  • Support the development of case studies and impact assessments.

c. Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of anticipatory action and humanitarian standards.
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoBoToolbox, ODK).

d. Core Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills for translating data into actionable insights
  • Team collaboration and adaptability in dynamic environments

e. Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours during crises
