For Consultancy Service on
“TOT on unpaid care work analysis to men and women/knowledge transfer to WEC's meeting with action plan preparation.”
Background
Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal, in partnership with Oxfam Nepal and with funding support from KOICA, is implementing the Empowering Her project across all 18 wards of Rajdevi and Brindaban Municipalities of Rautahat District. The project works with marginalized and vulnerable women to strengthen their access to services, economic opportunities, leadership, and decision-making, while addressing gender inequality, harmful social norms, caste-based discrimination, and other barriers that affect their participation in family and community life.
As part of the project’s gender-transformative approach, RDC Nepal plans to organize a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Unpaid Care Work Analysis for selected participants. The training will help participants understand the unequal distribution of unpaid care and domestic work between women and men, identify the time and responsibilities involved, and reflect on how these inequalities affect women’s economic opportunities, leadership, well-being, and participation in decision-making. The ToT will also equip participants with practical knowledge and tools to facilitate discussions with men and women and promote more equitable sharing of household and care responsibilities.
Following the ToT, the trained participants will transfer the knowledge and learning to members of the Women Empowerment Centres (WECs) through structured sessions and discussions. WEC members will jointly analyze the existing division of unpaid care work within their households and communities and identify practical areas for change. Based on this analysis, WECs will prepare realistic and locally relevant action plans to encourage shared household responsibilities, greater involvement of men and boys in care work, and more supportive family and community environments for women. The process will strengthen collective ownership and encourage WEC members to take practical steps toward reducing the unequal burden of unpaid care work.
