CALL FOR PROPOSAL TO STUDY ON FAITH TEACHINGS, VALUES, AND PRACTICES IN RELATION TO SOCIAL ISSUES

UMN Medical and Development Trust (UMN MDT) was established on 7 October 2020 (2077/06/21 BS) as per the Civil Code 2074, Article No. 318 and subsection 1. UMN MDT is implementing the Faith and Development Project (F&D) in Birendranagar, Surkhet. The project seeks to harness the positive role of faith communities in addressing social challenges and fostering inclusive and equitable communities by encouraging faith leaders to facilitate dialogue on priority social issues through the lens of their respective faith teachings and values, followed by community-led actions that translate reflection into positive change.

This research will explore, document, and analyse the teachings, values, and principles of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity in relation to selected social issues. The study will review existing evidence  and perspectives,  identify  opportunities and challenges for faith-based  engagement,  and assess the support needs of faith leaders and institutions. The findings will provide an evidence base for designing dialogue sessions, training materials, and other programme interventions under the Faith and Development  Project.  In addition,  the study  findings are expected to facilitate  intra-faith  and interfaith collaboration, strengthen community-led action, and contribute to social harmony, inclusive development, and sustainable peace. 

All interested and qualified consulting firms and individuals are encouraged to apply. UMN MDT will prioritize consultants with  a background in Religion  and Development Studies, Qualitative Research Methodology  in multi-faith  communities, and social inclusion.
