HANDS International is recruiting a Technical/ Project Coordinator

(District based: 1 position for each district-Gorkha, kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk)

Duration: 07 months (Extendable)

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Project Manager and the direct supervision of the Senior Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the construction activities and ensuring quality control for the Transitional Learning Centers-TLCs’ construction project. The Technical/ Project Coordinator will be based on site at district level ( Gorkha, kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk) and will support field level project implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Senior Engineer in overseeing the Construction work, and monitor all construction activities on-site,
  • Assist with the implementation of the Project Quality Control and make sure the construction is carried on as per specification, including proper inspection of each feature of Transitional Learning Centers model work during the planning Phase, Execution Phase, and Project closure Phase.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer in managing best practices and eradicate potential quality lacks.
  • Keep a record of all site meetings and ensure timely submission of progress reports and ensure close coordination of district level implementation partners,
  • Facilitate the donors, country office team, visitors and monitoring teams during monitoring and supervision.
  • Assist the Senior Engineer to ensure that all work accomplished is in accordance with the contract (e.g. site instructions, construction drawings and technical specification).
  • Assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer in tracking accomplished works. Guide and facilitate implementing partners to deliver the project within the stated timeline and quality.
  • Represent HANDS International in relevant meetings and ensure coordination with district level stakeholders, other government or Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) active in the district for project related coordination.
  • Perform other relevant tasks or duties as may be requested by the Project Manager and Senior Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education

  • BE civil with two years’ professional experience in relevant field or,
  • Diploma in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience; 

Required Experience

  • Experience working on construction projects of Temporary Learning Centers/ Semi-permanent schools structures and WASH.
  • Experience in international humanitarian response and/or development projects; preferably in post-earthquake programs in Nepal 
  • Experience in liaising with district and local government agencies is required.
  • Sound Knowledge of MS Office Package and AutoCAD.
