Position: Senior Veterinary Technician-LTOH – 1

Station: Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

To strengthen the dairy value chain by applying innovative livestock technologies and providing evidence-based veterinary diagnostics, treatment, and Good Husbandry Practices to improve animal health, productivity, and welfare within the Model Dairy Village initiative Sindhuli.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Diploma in Veterinary Science/Animal Husbandry (Grade XII) from a recognized academic institution with a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a veterinary /livestock technician or technical coordinator. 
  • Experience in diagnosing dairy animal diseases at the field level, based on history, signs, and symptoms, including sample collection and laboratory examination.
  • Adequate technical knowledge and practical skills in treating dairy animals, ranging from minor to complex cases.
  • Experience in performing both minor surgical procedures on dairy animals as a member of technical team.
  • Proficiency in reproductive physiology, including AI services, pregnancy diagnosis and managing infertility cases.
  • Adequate experience in community mobilization, social capital development, institutional development, capacity building, training, smallholder farmers/rural SMEs/co-ops, and base of the pyramid consumers.
  • Adequate interpersonal and people management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team and take initiative while also having strong team-building skills.
  • Excellent in local language and English (both spoken and written)
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, electronic mail (Microsoft office preferred), and internet

Preferred Requirements:

  • High level of Proficiency in providing animal health services, including artificial insemination, basic surgeries, reproductive management, and disease prevention.
  • Strong skills in data collection and reporting, especially related to herd performance, milk production, and animal health indicators.
  • Experience delivering farmer and staff training, developing training materials, and facilitating capacity-building sessions.
  • Familiarity with modern and emerging livestock technologies, with a track record of adopting or piloting innovative practices.
  • Experience managing technical resources, such as veterinary supplies, equipment, and field logistics, in a project or organizational setting.
