The Danish Red Cross (DRC) has a longstanding partnership with the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) having worked closely with them for more than 30 years, including in response and recovery, as well as in the delivery of community preparedness, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and health. The DRC Nepal Country Strategy 2022-2025 focused on, i) Emergency preparedness and response, ii) Inclusion in DRR, iii) Climate-smart solutions, and iv) Strategic advocacy and engagement with authorities.
Since 2022, under the strategic direction of the Country Manager, the DRC Country Office has embarked on ambitious plan to expand and diversify its funding base. This is as an effort to maintain as well grow the position of DRC as a leading actor in support of the NRCS as an integrated member of IFRC, but also within the broader humanitarian-development community in Nepal. To do so necessitates increased focus on external partner engagement, branding, communications, as well as upholding the utmost quality assurance of the existing programming being implemented with support from key donors. This requires specialised human resources dedicated to the task to ensure successful delivery.
Job purpose
The Senior Partnerships and Quality Assurance Officer will be based in the DRC Country Office (CO) which is an integrated part of the IFRC in Nepal and located in Kathmandu. They will work under the supervision of the DRCs Country Manager, but in liaison technically with other members of the CO, the Eurasia Regional Officer, and Global Partnerships unit in Copenhagen. Technical reporting line will be to the DRCs Project Design Specialist based in its Regional Office.
The Senior Partnerships and Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible under the guidance of the Country Manager for the identification of stakeholder mapping, project idea creation, development of concept notes and proposals as well as managing of internal processes for fundraising based on the broader ambitions, priorities and needs of the DRC CO. They will act as a support to the Country Manager in external engagement with key donors and partners to strengthen relationships with them, including ensuring they are kept engaged and informed of the work being done by DRC in Nepal.
The Senior Partnerships and Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for providing support to members of the DRC CO on all aspects of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (PMER) and Learning, and ensuring of accountability in terms of donor compliance and regulations. There will be specific focus on the program supported by DG ECHO (“the “STRONG in DRM” action”), but they will work in a matrix manner to offer support where there is a need to on other DRC programs.
They will work closely with Communications counterparts in the DRC CO, Regional Office and as needed IFRC Country Delegation to create communication products, and externally orientated that demonstrate the impact of the work being done with NRCS. This will include developing case studies, testimonials, and content suitable for internet and SoMe accounts.
There is an expectation that they will contribute actively to building the capacity of the DRC CO staff and NRCS counterparts on donor compliance and regulations, as well as PMER and Learning as identified a need to. As required, they will be called to travel to areas where DRC is supporting programming, but also other operations (as required).
