Research Consultant – Needs Assessment

DanChurchAid-DCA is a Danish humanitarian and development organisation that has been working in the country since 2008.  DCA works for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities, and strives to create a world without hunger, poverty, and oppression, in which popular and political powers constantly work strongly and actively for a just and sustainable distribution and use of the earth’s resources. In Nepal, DCA’s work focuses on three thematic areas: Build Resilient Communities, Fight Extreme Inequality and Save Lives. Across all the themes, DCA has integrated climate change and gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) as cross-cutting themes. DCA has rolled out its five-year Country Strategy (2022-2026), with some flagship interventions including anticipatory humanitarian action, nature-based solutions to climate change and disaster risk reduction, green enterprises, urban livelihood and climate literacy.

This Terms of Reference (ToR) is developed for qualified consultant who would support the programme team to design needs assessment studies in three different areas of strategic focus (one in each global goal). The studies identified will be undertaken simultaneously in the leadership of the research consultant, in close coordination with the partner’s staff, and help of enumerators if required. The research consultant will lead the research process and the study design, collection of data and information, desk reviews, consultations and develop detailed report. This will include 50% field visits to the targeted study sites, which will be done in close coordination with the programme team of DCA.
