The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). The IFRC is currently present in Nepal through a Country Office (CO - first established in 1965 with a presence through regional representation at times), providing support to Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) programmes and capacity building. The longer term mission of the Nepal Country Office is to facilitate organisational growth, technical capacities, partnerships and resource mobilisation that enable Nepal Red Cross Society to deliver on its 8th Development Plan 2021-2025, which is under development now, through the provision technical support, advocacy, representation and coordination functions, in accordance with Strategy 2030 and annual Operational Plans. |
Job purpose
The job purpose of the Resource Mobilization Manager is to lead and manage fundraising activities to accomplish the expected results and strengthening the property & Resource Management Division to achieve its plans. “Resource mobilisation (RM)” in Nepal Red Cross Society includes a combination of diverse skills and competencies comprising of, but not limited to, needs assessment, market trends analysis and research from individual to institutional and corporate donors; planning and budgeting; strategic returns on investment; targeted fundraising; income generation; business planning and development; cost recovery through services and asset management. This position is created within the IFRC country office Nepal and will be seconded to NRCS with indirect line management by IFRC CO. |
- Lead Nepal Red Cross Property & Resource Management division with support of advisory team, concerned departments and Red Cross Movement components and other stakeholders.
- Update policies related to NRCS Fundraising and resource mobilization and familiarize with the national legal policies regarding fundraising and resource mobilization in Nepal.
- Plan, execute, monitor and evaluate fundraising activities leading to increased financial support for the Nepal Red Cross Society, and continuous learning to further develop and enhance these activities.
- Track the periodic Plan of action for fundraising and set targets of income/investment.
- Continuously study market situation, carry out mapping of financial targets according to the RM strategy and create business opportunities for NRCS sustainability.
- Support the positioning of the NS as an auxiliary to government (liaise with government for funding/budget allocation in specific areas like blood transfusion, ambulance, eye care, First Aid and Disaster Management).
- Establish a knowledge management system for fundraising in different levels of NRCS.
- Develop a database of current/previous supporters and prospects (CRM) and establish reporting system.
- Contact and collaborate with individuals, humanitarian agencies, Nepalese diaspora, corporate sector and financial institutions for fundraising collaboration.
- Explore digital fundraising opportunities and collaborate with financial or technical institutions cooperation.
- Familiarity with Red Cross Movement, its activities and objectives.
- Capacity to develop strong plans, Policies, Guidelines & SOPs related to fundraising.
- Ability to analyze market situation & organization’s income-expenditure situation
