Geological Study at Chumnumbri – Dewal Rural Municipality, Gorkha

1. Background
The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established in 1963 and recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1964. In the same year, it became a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). Over the years, NRCS has grown into the largest humanitarian organization in Nepal, with an extensive network of District Chapters across all seven provinces and 77 districts of the country.
As an auxiliary to the Government of Nepal, NRCS is mandated to support government-led emergency preparedness, response, and disaster management efforts. At the federal level, NRCS has been supporting the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority in establishing and operationalizing the Anticipatory Action Clinic (AA Clinic). The AA Clinic is responsible for developing the National Anticipatory Action Framework, strengthening coordination and collaboration among stakeholders, and promoting capacity building, learning, and knowledge exchange.
NRCS, through the AA Clinic, is supporting NDRRMA in conducting the geohazard assessment in Chumnumbri – Dewal Rural Municipality in Gorkha. As a member of the Geohazard Technical Group, NRCS is undertaking this study in coordination with the AA Clinic.
2. Purpose
To identify the most suitable area, from among the proposed options, for the relocation of the at-risk settlement at Chumnumbri – Dewal Rural Municipality.
The specific objectives of this consulting service are as follows:
- To carry out a preliminary geo-hazard and socio-economic assessment of all proposed areas and identify the most suitable area for further detailed engineering geological, geophysical, and geotechnical investigations.
- To conduct a detailed assessment for one site, focusing on upstream and surrounding hazards, surface and subsurface geological conditions, and the bearing capacity of soil, weathered rock–soil profiles, or bedrock.
- To carry out a detailed socio-economic assessment of each settlement with respect to relocation to the newly identified area.

Application Procedure

Please be informed that the Technical and financial proposals must be submitted as separate documents/file. Incomplete proposals in all respects and proposals submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Companies that do not submit the proof of existence and compliances listed under (section 12 required documents) will not be considered for evaluation process.

- Financial Proposal - The consultant should submit a detailed financial proposal in NPR, including all associate cost (consultancy fees, travel/transportation cost, accommodation, DSA, communication etc.) and applicable VAT/taxes. The consultant is asked to submit a budget proposal outlining the costs for working days (fee), along with a tentative work plan including the working days for the main activities and milestones. Submit a financial proposal in NPR, with a detailed breakdown of the cost and its related activity.
