Snowland Integrated Development Center (SIDC) is a leading non-profit non-governmental autonomous, social development organization in Nepal which is established in 1992. SIDC has been established by the local educated and qualified residents with strong willingness and commitment possessing extensive experience in different sectors under the democratic pattern by holding the election every two years by the general members for the representative of the executive body. The board comprises 9 executive members with a female chairperson including a minimum of 44% of women representation. SIDC has been registered in the district administration in 1992 under the association and affiliation with the Social Welfare Council and NGO Federation of Nepal.

SIDC with the Vision of working with the poor and marginalized people in rural Humla to empower them in the process of meeting their basic needs, improving their livelihoods, and building their socio-economic status upgraded. It has always focused on gender equality and social inclusion. It has been a success to maintain agood relationship among the organizations and the people of the district to make them empowered in field like economic earnings, infrastructure, social mobilization, education, health and awareness, agriculture and husbandry, forestry, knowledge management, and skill development.

Snowland Integrated Development Center (SIDC) with Financial and Technical support from Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal is implementing the project titled Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP)-Livelihood & Health and WASH in Humla District. Thus, SIDC invites applications for the following position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Position: Public Health Officer (PHO)

Scope of Job

PHO is responsible for implementation of health and WASH related activities funded by GNI Nepal. The PHO will be based in the project location, Humla District with frequent travels to the working RM.

Major duties and responsibility 

Job Description

A. Planning

  • Collect M/RM specific data and information on various public health issues. 
  • Assist in designing health and WASH related plan of action (PoA) 
  • Assist in feasibility study of infra-activities.
  • Prepare detailed plan of action for HRIP follow- up activities.

B. Implementation

  • Take lead in implementation of health and WASH related activities mentioned in PoA.
  • Execute the HRIP follow up activities.
  • Collect supportive documents required for activity approval.
  • Keep a record of project activities.

C. Co-ordination

  • Coordinate with key informants in the communities to establish early rapport and assist to provide overall orientation of the project.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with health facility, rural/municipalities, R/M/W/S-WASH-CC, School Management Committees (SMCs) and other stakeholders for effective implementation of activities.

D. Reporting

  • Report as per prescribed forms and format on regular (weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual) basis.
  • Compile experiences, lessons learnt, best practices and success stories from the working communities.

E. General

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as instructed by supervisor.

F. Qualification and Desired Expertise

Education:

  • Health Assistant or Staff Nurse with Bachelors in Public Health (BPH)

Experience:

  • At least three years in a relevant field
  • In-depth knowledge of community health
  • Hands on experience in social mobilization
