ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion, and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 20 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position:
1. Position Title: Public Health and Nutrition Officer (3), For Siraha 2 Nos and For Saptari 1 Nos
Location: Siraha/Saptari
Objective/Purpose of the Position:
As a Public Health and Nutrition Officer you will be responsible for conduction of field level agreed activities of the assigned cluster of respective districts, in close coordination with Local Level Government, Health Office and project team. S/he will responsible to provide technical assistance to prioritized municipalities during program planning, and implementation through health facility and through the different health mother groups and the community engagement, as well as their follow-ups. S/he will also hold the responsibility to support in mentoring the health facility staff including the HMIS recording and reporting. S/he will support in implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive activities in respective cluster.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation
- The Public Health & Nutrition Officer will be primarily responsible to provide technical assistance to prioritized municipalities during program planning & implementation through health facilities, health mother groups, FCHVs and the community engagement, as well as their follow ups.
- S/he will also hold the responsibility to support in mentoring the health facility staff including the HMIS recording and reporting,
- S/he will be responsible for the overall coordination with local stakeholder, DHOs, beneficiaries,
- Data collection, report preparation, facilitation, quality assurance and carrying out other administrative duties,
- Technically support to the government in regards to maternal and child health nutrition activities,
- Guide and monitor to the field level supervisors,
- The Public Health and Nutrition Officer will be majorly responsible to recognize the lack of awareness on nutrition at community level among the target groups,
- S/he will create the MCHN relevant awareness among all concerned and improve the overall nutritional outcome,
- PHNO will hold the responsibility to develop SBCC action plan to address the prevalent issues; monitor the SBCC activities,
- S/he will be responsible to ensure that the target group receives gender transformative social and behavior change communication for improved consumption of nutritious diet, feeding practices
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) with 3+ years of experience in health & nutrition projects; with major experience in planning, implementation, social mobilization (health, nutrition, WASH, HFOMC), monitoring and evaluation; coordination with local and district level health offices/actors for effective implementation of field level activities, Lead nutrition component of NRL-TP and monitor performance of project team in implementation of project, ensuring project activities are delivered within scope, time and budget
- Good understanding of Government health system, HMIS recording and reporting tools,
- Ability to provide technical support to health facilities
- Strong understanding of the area of the development work and of the health programming
- Proven experiences of working with health mother groups, vulnerable groups, marginalized community and other stakeholders,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
- Demonstrated experience in the use of MS office Package (Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.) & Internet,
- Two-wheeler driving license preferred.
Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English, Maithili, Bhojpuri (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.
