Unification Nepal Gorkha (UN-Nepal), registered in the District Administration Office (DAO) Gorkha and Social Welfare Council (SWC) in the year 2009, is a non-profit making child-focused organization formed by a team of youth NGO professionals for sustainable development across the country. It is autonomous and politically non partisan organization which is governed by its constitution, financial and administrative policy and code of conduct and other various policies. The organization is implementing various projects with multiple donors and INGOs at Gorkha district and few projects are under pipeline.

Vacancy Announcement

Unification Nepal Gorkha (UN-Nepal), registered in the District Administration Office (DAO) Gorkha and Social Welfare Council (SWC) in the year 2009, is a non-profit making child-focused organization formed by a team of youth NGO professionals for sustainable development across the country. 

UN Nepal is going to implement the “Investing in Early Childhood Development Project” in partnership with Planate Infants & Development (PE&D), France, and funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The primary goal of the project is to support and promote the healthy growth, learning, and well-being of young children during the critical early years of their lives. The project aims to create an environment and provide resources that enable children to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively in 48 public schools in Sahid Lakhan RM and aware relevant stakeholders on the importance of ECD.

Position: Project Coordinator (1)

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Executive Director, Board members, and workforce of the Donor, the Project Coordinator shall support the management and ensure smooth operations of the project.

Specific responsibilities (ToR) include project support with emphasis on the following:

  • Work as a project focal person of Unification Nepal,
  • Prepare periodic project plans and submit them to PE&D,
  • Ensure the timely implementation of field-level activities of the project with quality based on the approved plan and budget,
  • Coordinate and implement field-level activities. 
  • Assist  social mobilizer in conducting capacity-building trainings, awareness programs to improve the learning environment of project-implemented government schools,
  • Regular visits and monitoring of project activities and onsite support to the SM,
  • Assessment and feasibility study to identify the scope of project activities,
  • Provides regular updates and reports on the progress of the project activities,
  • Timely dissemination of the report to partner organizations in support of SM, 
  • Review of financial documents, planning and budgeting,
  • Ensure the participation and involvement of relevant stakeholders in project activities to promote inclusivity, participatory, and transparent processes.
  • Facilitate close coordination with UN Nepal and PE&D to mitigate community-level disputes if any.
  • Endorse and tie up project plans with local government annual program, 
  • Play a key role in the process of dispute-solving.
  • Keeps himself/herself informed about project activities and the context in which the project operates.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals including information collection and submission, 
  • Support in arranging the project visit by PE&D, communicate, coordinate, and organize the meeting accordingly with different stakeholders, and support on the logistic management of the visit.
  • Communicate, Coordinate, and Support Logistic Management accordingly as per the visit by the PE&D and other stakeholders.
  • Support in any other project-related tasks assigned by UN Nepal and the donor.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Science, Rural Development, Environment Science or a related discipline. Preference will be given to master’s degree holders or higher education. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in community mobilization on development projects and in the field of child education, infrastructure support, child protection, or development.
  • Experience in community-based construction projects is a big asset, including mediating unavoidable conflicts arising between the contractor and the community would be a plus. 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (Preferred Nepali and English Typing skills with internet and email surfing). 
  • Have excellent fluency in Nepali and a good command of English (both speaking and writing)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Willingness to travel frequently travel at remote areas.

Position: Admin and Finance Officer (1)

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and Executive Director the Finance Officer shall support overall financial management and operations of the project. 

Specific responsibilities (ToR) include project support with an emphasis on the following:

  • Maintain all the administrative and financial transactions, records, vouchers, and reports,
  • Maintain financial documents filling system,
  • Ensure the deadline, accuracy, and quality of the financial report,
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the progress of the areas of responsibility,
  • Provide logistical support to the project team,
  • Initiate and lead the procurement process, especially quotation collection, price quotation comparison, quality assurance, issuance of the Purchase Order (PO), Goods received notes (GRN), payment and goods delivery notes (if the goods are delivered to the field),
  • Responsible for bank & cash transactions and bank reconciliation,
  • Provide detailed information on finance issues during audit exercise,
  • Coordinate/provide logistical and coordination support to relevant meetings, workshops, training, and events,
  • Keep records of all the financial transactions related to the project,
  • Ensure that all the payments are authorized and evidence-based,
  • Timely payment of tax and other financial liabilities of project and organization,
  • Manage and update inventory,
  • Serve as a custodian for stationery supplies, distributing stationary among project personnel, securing log of distribution, and a logbook for vehicles (motorbike),
  • Ensure timely submission of correctly completed travel claims,
  • Other official work assigned by the organization.

Position: Social Mobilizer (5) 

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the PC and Finance officer, the Social Mobilizer shall be responsible for the operations guided by the management.

Specific responsibilities (ToR) include project support with an emphasis on the following:

  • Support in need assessment and data collection,
  • Facilitation of ECD training in schools and catchment areas,
  • Facilitation of Parental Education sessions,
  • Support ECD teachers in the management of child-friendly facilitation of ECD classrooms.
  • Organize the meeting with SMC/ PTA, orient on ECD, and support to develop the plan on improving ECD services in school,
  • Advocate for ECD education, policy-related issues in schools and SMC, and fundraising and fund management,
  • Participate in different events organized by UN Nepal and schools,
  • Work as a project focal person of Unification Nepal in assigned schools,
  • Prepare periodic project plans and submit them to UN Nepal in coordination with PC,
  • Ensure the timely implementation of field-level activities of the project with quality based on the approved plan and budget as assigned by PC,
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the progress of the project activities including the case stories,
  • Produce and submit accurate project-related reports on time.
  • Ensure close coordination with UN Nepal and PE&D to mitigate community-level disputes if any,

  • Experience in project finance management,
